Kaizer Chiefs have turned to a trusted figure to steer the ship into its next chapter, appointing Bheki Shongwe as the club’s new Group Chief Executive Officer, effective May 2026.
For Amakhosi, Shongwe is hardly a new face. He has long been part of the Chiefs family, serving as a non-executive director on the Board while successfully running his own ventures. His connection runs deeper still — between 2009 and 2012 he held the role of Managing Director, leaving behind a legacy of steady leadership and intimate knowledge of the Club’s inner workings.
Now, he returns to Naturena with the responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day running of the organisation. Reporting directly to Chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung and the Board, Shongwe will work hand-in-hand with department heads to ensure the Club thrives on every front. His role also extends to supporting Dr Motaung in guiding the broader vision of Chiefs, balancing the demands of football excellence with the business of sustaining a proud institution.
The appointment is more than a change in title — it’s a homecoming. Chiefs welcome Shongwe back into the fold with confidence that his leadership will help carry forward a legacy built over 56 years, while shaping new milestones for the generations to come.
