Bournemouth have never lost a Premier League home game against Leicester (W3 D2) – no side have they played at home more often without ever losing in the top-flight than the Foxes.
After failing to win any of their first seven Premier League meetings with Bournemouth (D5 L2), Leicester have now won two of their last three against the Cherries (L1).
Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last four Premier League games (W1 D3), last having a longer run without defeat in the top-flight between May and August 2018 (5).
This will be Bournemouth’s 100th Premier League home game – just one of the last eight sides to reach this figure have won their milestone match (D3 L4), though that was the most recent such case (Nottingham Forest 1-0 West Ham in August).
Bournemouth have failed to score in their last three Premier League home games – only once in their league history have they done so in four consecutively, in March/April 2005 in League One.
Although they sit 19th in the Premier League, only five teams have scored more goals in the competition this season than Leicester (14), with the Foxes outscoring every other side currently in the bottom-half. The Foxes have also shipped 22 goals, with the 36 goals in their games the most in a league season at this stage for them since 1965-66 under Matt Gillies (16 scored, 21 conceded).
Bournemouth have conceded three goals in four Premier League games with Neto in goal this season, compared to 16 in four games with Mark Travers. Indeed, Neto has the highest save per centage of any ‘keeper to play in more than one Premier League game this season (82.4 per cent).
Leicester striker Jamie Vardy has been directly involved in five goals in his last three Premier League games against Bournemouth, scoring four and assisting one. Vardy has scored in each of these three games, and the Cherries could be the fifth team he’s scored in four in a row against in the top-flight (also Arsenal, Brighton, Liverpool and Watford).
Dominic Solanke’s first league goals for Bournemouth came in a 4-1 win against Leicester in July 2020. His next strike will be his 50th league goal overall (1 for Liverpool, 48 for Bournemouth).
James Maddison has been directly involved in 19 Premier League goals in 24 appearances during 2022 (12 goals, 7 assists), a figure only three players can better and only one Englishman (Harry Kane, 29). He has also scored six Premier League goals from outside the box this calendar year, the most by a player in a year since 2017, when three players had 6+ - Harry Kane (8), Philippe Coutinho (7) and Kevin De Bruyne (6).
Chelsea v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Chelsea are winless in their last four Premier League games against Wolves (D3 L1), with each of the last three meetings ending level.
Wolves are winless in their last nine away league games against Chelsea (D4 L5), since a 2-1 victory in March 1979. They’ve failed to score in six of these nine visits to Stamford Bridge.
Since Wolves’ return to the Premier League in 2018, Chelsea have dropped eight points from winning positions against them, more than they have against any other side in that time.
Chelsea have won their last two Premier League games by a 2-1 scoreline, having conceded first both times. It’s the seventh time the Blues have won having conceded first in consecutive Premier League matches, but they’ve never done so in three in a row before.
Wolves have won just one of their last 15 Premier League games (D5 L9), beating Southampton 1-0 last month. In fact, since the start of April, Wolves have earned fewer points than any Premier League side to have featured in both campaigns (11).
Wolves haven’t scored more than once in any of their last 11 Premier League games, since a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in May. Wolves are the lowest scorers of any Premier League side this season (3), and are the only side yet to score after halftime so far.
This will be Graham Potter’s first Premier League home match in charge of Chelsea; none of the last 14 managers to take charge of the Blues in the competition have lost their first home game (W10 D4) since Graham Rix and Ray Wilkins did so in joint-caretaker charge against Leicester in September 2000. The last permanent Blues boss to lose his first league game at Stamford Bridge was Gianluca Vialli (0-1 v Man Utd, February 1998).
Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling has been involved in six goals in his last five Premier League games against Wolves, scoring four and assisting two. However, Wolves are the only side Sterling has scored 2+ goals in a Premier League game against and lost that game, netting twice in a 3-2 defeat in December 2019.
Both Rúben Neves and João Moutinho could make their 151st Premier League appearances for Wolves, which would put them level with Conor Coady for the most games played for the club in the competition.
Wolves striker Diego Costa scored 30 goals and assisted nine more in 45 Premier League appearances at Stamford Bridge when he played for Chelsea, averaging a goal or assist every 95 minutes there. Among players with 1000+ minutes at Stamford Bridge in the competition, only Didier Drogba (goal or assist every 88 minutes) has a better ratio than Costa.
Manchester City – Southampton
Man City have lost just one of their last 12 Premier League games against Southampton (W8 D3), though both their meetings last season ended in draws.
After winning their first ever league visit to the Etihad in April 2004 (3-1), Southampton have picked up just two points from their subsequent 11 away games against Man City (D2 L9).
Southampton have won just two of their 45 away league games against reigning champions in their top flight history (D11 L32), beating Leeds 3-1 in March 1970, and Chelsea by the same scoreline in October 2015.
Manchester City have won their last eight Premier League home games, scoring at least three goals each time. The last team to have a longer run of top-flight home wins while scoring 3+ goals was Aston Villa (13 between December 1930 and September 1931).
Man City’s 29 goals after eight games is the joint-most at this stage of a Premier League campaign, level with their own record from 2017-18. Overall, in the Premier League they’ve scored 6+ goals in 21 different matches – including twice this season – two more than any other side, despite not featuring in five seasons.
Southampton haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 18 Premier League away games, both the longest current run and Saints’ longest ever run in the competition. Overall, they’ve kept two clean sheets in their last 28 on the road, with one of those a goalless draw against Man City at the Etihad last season.
Southampton have conceded the first goal in a league-high six different Premier League games thisseason. On the two occasions Saints have scored first this term, they’ve gone on to lose (1-4 v Tottenham, 1-2 v Everton).
Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne has eight assists in eight Premier League games this season, as many as he got in 30 appearances last season. He’s provided two assists in each of his last two Premier League games – the first player to do so since David Silva in August 2019 – and he could become the first player to ever do so in three consecutive games.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has scored 14 goals in eight Premier League games, netting a hat-trick in each of his last three appearances at the Etihad. It’s just one goal fewer than the Citizens’ top league scorer netted last season (Kevin De Bruyne, 15).
Man City’s Erling Haaland is averaging a goal once every 48 minutes in the Premier League so far, the best rate of anyone to score more than once in the competition’s history. Meanwhile, he’s also found the net with 42 per cent of his shots (14 goals, 33 shots), the best conversion rate of any player with at least 20 attempts (since 2003-04).
Newcastle United – Brentford
Newcastle United are unbeaten in their last six league matches against Brentford (W5 D1), with their only failure to win in this run coming at home last season in the Premier League, a 3-3 draw.
The five league meetings between Newcastle and Brentford at St James’ Park have seen 24 goals scored at an average of 4.8 per game. All of these games have been in a different decade (1930s, 1940s, 1990s, 2010s, 2020s).
London sides have failed to score in each of their last three Premier League away games against
Newcastle – the Magpies had conceded at least once in each of their 12 such games before this, shipping 29 goals in total.
Newcastle have lost just one of their last 14 Premier League home games (W8 D5), though each of the last three have finished level. They’ve not drawn four consecutive top-flight home games since August 2005.
Brentford ended a run of 19 consecutive away league games without a clean sheet with their goalless draw at Bournemouth last time out – they’ve not kept consecutive shutouts away from home in the top-flight since a run of three in December 1937/January 1938.
Brentford have failed to score in their last two Premier League games, last going three consecutive league games without a goal in March/April 2019 (a run of four).
Newcastle have made more high turnovers than any other Premier League side this season (87).
Meanwhile, only Nottingham Forest (18) and Everton (15) have faced more shots from such situations than Brentford (14).
Newcastle’s Miguel Almirón has scored three goals in his last six Premier League games, as many as he had in his previous 48 appearances. He’s looking to score in consecutive appearances in the competition for just the second time, previously doing so in July 2020.
As well as being involved in nearly half of Brentford’s 15 Premier League goals this season (5 goals, 2 assists), Ivan Toney has had more shots (23) and created more chances from open play (10) than any other player for the Bees this term.
Newcastle striker Callum Wilson has scored five goals in his last five Premier League games, and is looking to score in three consecutive home league games for the first time since October 2021.
Brighton and Hove Albion – Tottenham Hotspur
Brighton have won two of their last three Premier League matches against Tottenham Hotspur (L1), one more than in their first seven games against them in the competition combined (W1 D1 L5).
Having won 2-0 away at Brighton and Hove Albion in March, Spurs are looking for consecutive top-flight wins away at the Seagulls for the first time since a run of three between 1980 and 1982.
After a run of four consecutive home league defeats in February/March, Brighton are unbeaten in their last seven at the Amex Stadium (W4 D3). They’re looking to win three consecutive home league games for the first time since November 2019, a run that included a 3-0 win over Spurs.
Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season ended with a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal last time out. They’ve not lost consecutive league games on the road since September 2021, which included a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal.
Only Everton (7) have conceded fewer Premier League goals than Brighton (8) this season, while only Manchester City (5.6) and Arsenal (6.9) have a lower expected goals against total than the Seagulls (7.9).
Tottenham have faced 127 shots in their eight Premier League games so far this season – their average of 15.9 shots faced per game is their highest on record in a single campaign (since 2003-04).
No side has used fewer different players in the Premier League this season than Brighton (19), while the Seagulls have also made fewer changes to their starting XI than any other side this term (4).
This will be Roberto De Zerbi’s first home game in charge of Brighton. He faced Spurs boss Antonio Conte four times during his time in Serie A, but never ended on the winning side against him (D1 L3).
Leandro Trossard has scored five goals in seven Premier League games for Brighton this season, including a hat-trick at Liverpool last time out. Only in 2021-22 (8) has the Belgian scored more in a single Premier League campaign, while he’s looking to score in three consecutive games in the competition for the first time.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane became the first ever player to score 100 away goals in the Premier League in their defeat against Arsenal last time out. Kane has scored five goals in his last seven Premier League games against Brighton, including three in four at the Amex Stadium.
Crystal Palace – Leeds United
Crystal Palace have failed to score in their last three Premier League matches against Leeds (D1 L2), after netting four times in the game previous to this run, a 4-1 home win in November 2020.
Leeds have won none of their last six league visits to Crystal Palace (D3 L3) since a three-match winning run between 1994 and 2006.
Leeds have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 Premier League games in London (W3 D1 L12), with that coming via a goalless draw at Crystal Palace in April last season.
Leeds are looking to keep four consecutive clean sheets against an opponent for only the fourth time in the Premier League, also doing so against Aston Villa (Mar 1994 – Aug 1995), Middlesbrough (Aug 1998 – Feb 2000) and Southampton (Apr 1996 – Sept 1997).
Crystal Palace have scored the first goal in four of their last six Premier League games, conceding first in one, and the other finishing 0-0. The Eagles won the only game in which they conceded first in this run, while they’ve not won away of the four games in which they’ve opened the scoring (D2 L2).
Crystal Palace have lost just two of their last 10 Premier League home games (W4 D4), though they did lose 2-1 against Chelsea last time out. They’ve not suffered consecutive home league defeats since their first three of 2022.
Since the start of last season, only Wolves (5) have either lost or drawn more Premier League games courtesy of goals conceded in the 90th minute than Crystal Palace (4). Meanwhile, Leeds have scored more 90th minute goals to either draw or win a game than any other side in that time (7).
Only Daniel Podence (67 per cent) has scored a higher share of his team’s Premier League goals this season than Wilfried Zaha (50 per cent), who has scored four of Crystal Palace’s eight goals so far.
Leeds striker Patrick Bamford has scored four goals in his last six Premier League appearances against teams he’s previously played for in the competition, including two against Palace (also two v Burnley). Only Glenn Murray (3) has more against Palace after playing for them, while the winning goal against them in their last game was scored by Conor Gallagher, who played 34 times for Palace last season.
This will be Jesse Marsch’s 20th Premier League match in charge of Leeds United, with the Whites picking up 45 cards in his 19 games so far (42 yellows, 3 reds), second only to Everton (51) since his first game in March. Only four managers have seen their teams receive as many as 50 cards in their first 20 games: Walter Smith (59), Ruud Gullit (52), Steve Bruce (50) and Walter Mazzarri (50).
West Ham United – Fulham
West Ham United are unbeaten in 11 home Premier League matches against Fulham (W7 D4), winning their last four in a row. The Hammers last had a longer home top-flight winning run against Hull City between 2009 and 2016 (five in a row - ongoing).
Fulham have kept just one clean sheet in their 21 away top-flight matches against West Ham United, shipping 49 goals in those other 20 games. The only Cottagers goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet on the road in the top-flight against the Hammers was Edwin van der Sar in a 2-0 win in November 2001.
West Ham have lost more Premier League London derbies than any other side (113), while Fulham have the lowest win rate in such games (18 per cent - 26 wins from 141 games). Indeed, the Cottagers have won just one of their last 27 top-flight matches against fellow London sides (D5 L21).
Following their 2-0 win against Wolves last time out, West Ham are looking to win consecutive Premier League games for the first time since a run of three in December/January last season. However, the Hammers have lost two of their last three Premier League games against promoted sides (W1), as many as in their previous 16.
Fulham have alternated between victory (3) and defeat (3) in each of their last six Premier League games, losing 4-1 at home to Newcastle last time out. The Cottagers’ three wins in this run is many as they’d managed in their previous 30 Premier League games combined.
?West Ham (28y 135d) and Fulham (28y 56d) have the two oldest average starting XIs in the Premier League this season.
West Ham have scored a league-high 40 per cent of their Premier League goals from outside the box this season (2/5) – however, Fulham are one of just three sides (along with Liverpool and the Hammers themselves) who are yet to concede from distance this season.
West Ham manager David Moyes has won 13 of his 14 home Premier League matches against Fulham (D1), with his first game in the competition a 2-1 home win as Everton boss in March 2002. Among managers to face an opponent more than 10 times on home soil, only Arsène Wenger v Leicester (100 per cent, 11 wins from 11) has a higher win ratio than Moyes v Fulham (93 per cent).
Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored in each of his three Premier League London derby matches this season (vs Brentford, Arsenal and Tottenham), having scored in just one of his first 17 such games in the competition.
Including his time in the Championship with Nottingham Forest, West Ham’s Michail Antonio has been involved in four goals in his five league games against Fulham (3 goals, 1 assist). The Jamaican has also been involved in more London derby goals than any other West Ham player in the Premier League (13 goals, 12 assists).
Arsenal – Liverpool
Arsenal have won one of their last 14 Premier League matches against Liverpool (D4 L9), a 2-1 home win back in July 2020. They’ve lost their last four in a row but have never lost five league games in a row against Liverpool.
Liverpool have won their last two away league games against Arsenal, as many as in their previous 20 visits (W2 D9 L9). They’ve never won three consecutive away league matches against the Gunners.
Arsenal are on a run of 13 consecutive Premier League matches without a clean sheet against Liverpool, conceding 39 goals in those games. They have only had one longer run against an opponent without a clean sheet in the competition: 14 versus Man City (ongoing).
Arsenal have won their last seven Premier League home games, their longest run at the Emirates since a run of 10 in 2018-19 under Unai Emery. However, the Gunners haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last nine home league games.
Liverpool have conceded the first goal in nine of their last 11 Premier League games, but have only gone onto lose one of those (1-2 v Manchester United in August).
Liverpool have yet to win away from home in the Premier League this season, drawing twice and losing once in their three games – not since 2010-11 under Roy Hodgson have the Reds failed to win any of their first four away league games in a single campaign.
Liverpool’s Diogo Jota has six goals in eight Premier League appearances against Arsenal, including five in four for the Reds. He is averaging a goal every 67 minutes against the Gunners, the best ratio of any player in Premier League history against Arsenal to play at least 200 minutes against them.
Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has been involved in six goals in his eight Premier League games against Liverpool (4 goals, 2 assists), with all four of his goals against them coming in home games.
Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka has two goals and three assists in eight Premier League games this season – only in 2018-19 (4) has he scored more goals in a single campaign for the Gunners, while only in 2017-18 has he provided more assists (7).
Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has five goals in six Premier League games this season, as many as he netted in 20 appearances last term. The Brazilian has also scored more Premier League goals against Arsenal (9) than he has versus any other opponent.
Everton – Manchester United
Following a 1-0 win over Manchester United in April, Everton are looking to win consecutive Premier League games against the Red Devils for the first time since winning both games in the 2013-14 season.
Manchester United have won just one of their last seven Premier League matches against Everton (D4 L2), a 3-1 away win in November 2020. They had won five of their seven against the Toffees before this.
Everton have won their last two Premier League games, having won just one of their previous 10. They last won three in a row in March 2021 under Carlo Ancelotti.
Manchester United have lost eight of their last 10 Premier League away games (W2), keeping a clean sheet in both victories. However, the Red Devils scored as many goals in their 6-3 defeat against Man City last time out as they had in their previous eight away league games combined.
Everton are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games (W2 D4). They last had a longer run in
November/December 2017 (7 games), while they last had a longer run under a single manager between December 2016 and February 2017 (9 under Ronald Koeman).
Manchester United have conceded a league-high share 71 per cent of their Premier League goals in the first half of games this season (10/14). Indeed, their 10 goals conceded before halftime is three more than Everton have conceded in total, with the Toffees having the best defensive record in the competition this term (7 goals conceded).
Frank Lampard is looking to become only the third manager in Everton’s history to win his first two league matches against Manchester United, after Dick Molyneux in 1892 and Roberto Martinez in 2014. Lampard had failed to beat the Red Devils when he was Chelsea boss in three attempts (D1 L2).
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has faced Everton more often without ever scoring than he has any other opponent in the Premier League (11 games). Meanwhile, against no side has teammate Anthony Martial scored more Premier League goals than he has against the Toffees (5).
Of keepers to play more than one game, only Neto (82.4 per cent) has a higher save per centage than Everton’s Jordan Pickford (81.6 per cent) in the Premier League this season. It’s Pickford’s best save rate in a single Premier League campaign.
Antony has scored in his first two Premier League games for Manchester United – no player has ever scored in their first three appearances for the Red Devils in the competition.
Nottingham Forest – Aston Villa
This is the first league meeting between Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa since the 2018-19 Championship season, a 3-1 away win for Villa. The other game that season was a 5-5 draw at Villa Park.
In the Premier League, Nottingham Forest won just one of their 10 games against Aston Villa between 1992 and 1999 (D4 L5). In their one win against the Villans in October 1994, the referee was Keith Cooper, father of current Forest manager Steve.
Nottingham Forest have lost six of their eight Premier League matches this season (W1 D1), including their last five in a row while conceding 18 goals. Forest last lost six in a row in the league in October 2020, and last did so in the top-flight in September 1992 under Brian Clough.
After conceding in 11 consecutive Premier League matches between May and September, Aston Villa have kept clean sheets in their last two against Southampton and Leeds. The Villans last kept three in a row in February and March, with two of those three also coming against Southampton and Leeds.
Nottingham Forest have faced the most shots (136) and most shots on target (56) in the Premier League this season. Since 2003-04, only two teams have faced more shots on target in their first eight games in a season in the division: Blackpool in 2010-11 (57) and Hull City in 2016-17 (59).
Aston Villa have lost three of their last four Premier League games against newly promoted clubs (W1), including their one such game this season against Bournemouth. No side has lost more games against promoted clubs in Premier League history than the Villans (48, level with West Ham).
Nottingham Forest have conceded 21 goals after eight Premier League matches this season, their most at this stage of a top-flight season in their history. They’ve only ever shipped this many at this stage of two previous league seasons: 23 in 1929-30 and 22 in 1930-31, both in the second tier.
Nine of the 21 goals Nottingham Forest have conceded in the Premier League this season have come from outside the box (43 per cent), more than any other side. They’ve conceded at least once from outside the box in their last six matches, the longest run by a team in Premier League history.
Ashley Young created five chances for Aston Villa in their goalless draw at Leeds last time out, his most in a Premier League game since October 2019 for Man Utd against Newcastle (6). Aged 37 and 85 days, he was the oldest player to create that many chances in a Premier League game since Paul Scholes in April 2012 for Man Utd v QPR (37 years, 144 days), a match that Young played in.
Nottingham Forest forward Emmanuel Dennis has ended on the losing side in all five of his Premier League appearances for Forest and is on an 11-game losing run in the competition, also losing his last six at Watford. He’s ended on the losing side in his last 14 home appearances, a record run for a player in Premier League history. He has more goals (5), assists (3) and yellow cards (4) than wins (2) in 19 such home appearances.
