The Carling Black Label Cup, which will feature four Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs, was launched in a glittering event at the FNB Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday.

The one-day event will take place on 12 November 2022 at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.

This year’s edition will see all 16 PSL teams participate in the voting with the four most voted teams being involved in the one-day tournament.

After recently introducing the new Carling Knockout Cup, which will start from 2022/23, Premier Soccer League chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza confirmed the return of the Carling Black Label Cup at the end of July.

However, the tournament format will change, with four teams competing in the new Carling Cup and fans voting for those four teams to participate in the competition with all 16 DStv Premiership teams available for selection.

“The top four (who will compete in the Carling Black Label Cup) are getting R2 million each.

The winner gets an extra R2 million, but R500 000 of it will go to a fan and another R500 000 to a charity of his/her choice.

Kaizer Chiefs are leading the voting with 85 773 votes followed by Orlando Pirates with 58 945 and Mamelodi Sundowns with 27 553.

The fourth spot is closely contested but currently held by AmaZulu, who have received 4 992 votes so far.
