Betway Premiership side Stellenbosch FC have secured stability at the helm, with head coach Gavin Hunt signing a new deal that will keep him in charge for the next two seasons.
Hunt, who stepped into the Maroons’ dugout in December, guided the side through the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign and steered them to a respectable ninth-place finish in the Betway Premiership.
The 61-year-old is one of South African football’s most seasoned figures, having overseen more than 1 000 top-flight matches. His decision to extend his stay signals intent from both coach and club to build something lasting in the Cape Winelands.
“I’m very excited about the project we’re building at Stellenbosch FC,” Hunt said. “This is a fantastic club with fantastic facilities, and it’s very professionally run. The staff have been welcoming and supportive, and we share a fresh, positive outlook for the future.”
Hunt acknowledged the club’s proud past, noting the success achieved under previous coaches, while stressing the challenge of restoring that competitive edge. “It’s not going to be easy, and it won’t happen overnight,” he admitted. “But we have a chance to rebuild, and I’m happy to have been entrusted with that responsibility.”
