Despite chasing shadows in their first opening 10 matches of the DStv Diski Challenge, AmaZulu coach Reneilwe Letsholonyane remain optimistic that they still stand a chance to chance to chase the top three teams.
Usuthu are second from the bottom of the table with mere seven points out of 30 that they have contested for so far.
“It has been interesting and learning journey for me and most of the players in our squad. I would be lying if I say the results have gone well, we are not happy with that but there’s a lot of improvement,” noted Letsholonyane.
“It is my first season as head coach in the Diski Challenge and I am not going to be diplomatic and say we want top eight finish; I want to see us competing for the league title. We understand that is it a process but as coaches we still need to see the results.”
Usuthu host Stellenbosch FC in the first match of the day at Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday.

Letsholonyane said they're hoping to end Cape Town teams’ dominance over they as they have already lost twice to Western Cape outfits this season.
A fourth night ago AmaZulu were beaten 1-0 by Cape Town City FC, that results came after they were thumped by Cape Town Spurs 7-0 early in the campaign.
The former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder said it is about time they change the narrative.
He explained: “The Cape Town teams have been tricky for us. We went to Cape Town twice already and came back empty handed. Now we must fight and try to turn things around. We know Stellenbosch are a experienced team, they will not make things easy for us but we will fight. Most of our players are now but I am confident that once we find the momentum, we will make things tough for a lot of teams.”
On the flip side Stellenbosch are heading to this match occupying the fifth spot on the log with 19 points. They are five points behind early pace setters Mamelodi Sundowns.
