Following positive starts to the 2026/27 campaign, AmaZulu and Sekhukhune United will now try their hand at gaining success in the MTN8 quarterfinals at the Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

AmaZulu were among the best performing teams in the Betway Premiership last season as a fourth-place finish ensured their spot in the MTN8 this year. Following not far behind, Babina Noko ended their 2025/26 campaign in fifth, three points behind their upcoming opponents.
With the new league campaign up and running, AmaZulu gained maximum points in a 1-0 win over Stellenbosch FC at Parrow Park last Saturday, with Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya’s 59th minute penalty separating the two sides on the day.
Sekhukhune likewise tasted victory, owing to a 1-0 win over Durban City at the Seshego Stadium on Saturday after a spirited performance by Bright Ndlovu, who was on target in Limpopo.
WHAT WAS SAID
Speaking ahead of the tie, AmaZulu star Omega Mdaka spoke of his pedigree in the tournament and will hope to inspire his team to victory in his third attempt at gold.
"As young as I am, I've been fortunate enough to play in two MTN8 finals," Mdaka said.
"I've got two silver medals and I want that gold one. I want to work hard for the team to get there, for the players to experience what it's like to play in a final and hopefully this time, win it."

AmaZulu: Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya – Ngwenya was one of AmaZulu’s star performers during their win over Stellenbosch FC and grabbed the all-important goal en-route to victory. With wind in his sails, Ngwenya will no doubt hope to continue his run of form in front of goal.
Sekhukhune United: Bright Ndlovu - Formerly as a defender, now a striker, Ndlovu picked up where he left off from the previous campaign by getting on the scoresheet against Durban City last weekend. Overall, Ndlovu has now scored six league goals in nine games since his change of position.
