With Orlando Pirates leading the way in the Betway Premiership heading into this weekend’s fixture list, the Soweto giants will now hope to dump the pressure on Mamelodi Sundowns who are away on CAF Champions League duty on Saturday.
While Sundowns have won each of the last eight South African league titles, the Brazilians are facing a legitimate threat in the form of Pirates this time around.
The Buccaneers are scheduled to face Marumo Gallants in their next Betway Premiership assignment, with the game set to commence at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday afternoon. Pirates are currently in pole position in the league after 15 games, three points ahead of the Brazilians.
Bang on form, the Sea Robbers have won four out of their last five league games, while they also recorded a 0-0 draw with Sekhukhune United during this period. Also, Pirates will be hoping to pounce on a wounded Gallants outfit following their run of three consecutive losses.
Gallants currently occupy 13th on the log with 15 points to their name, just one point away from the PSL Relegation Playoff spot.
At the lower end of the table, relegation-threatened Magesi will take on Golden Arrows at the Seshego Stadium on Friday evening.
Last-placed Magesi are without a win in their previous five league matches and will head into their next fixture on the back of a 2-0 defeat against Orlando Pirates. The Limpopo side last tasted victory in the Betway Premiership on 18 October 2025 where they jotted down a 2-1 victory against TS Galaxy on home soil.
Elsewhere, Richards Bay and Chippa United will shake hands at the Buffalo City Stadium on Saturday night, with the latter in line to bag their third win on the bounce.
While the Chilli Boys are one point adrift from the PSL Relegation playoff spot in 14th position, the East London club have been boosted by victories over Orbit College and Durban City recently.
Then, fifth placed Sekhukhune United and Orbit College will battle it out at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, in what will be another key fixture in the relegation battle.
Orbit College are currently 15th on the table, with only 14 points to their name after 17 matches played. Sitting in the PSL Relegation playoff position, Orbit are only a point away from safety.
