New coach Steve Komphela’s immediate priority will be to end Lamontville Golden Arrows’ horror run of defeats which is now the second worst in Premier Soccer League history.
Komphela was named on Thursday as new coach of Arrows, who are on a run of 11 successive defeats.
Nine of them have come in the DStv Premiership plus the run also includes the Carling Knockout quarterfinal loss to AmaZulu in November and their Nedbank Cup first-round defeat at home to TS Galaxy last month.
Arrows were handed a walkover three points when Moroka Swallows did not honour their fixture in December but on the field have had no success since they beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 at home in late October.

Mother City’s 13 league losses in a row in the 1999-2000 is a PSL record.
The 56-year-old Komphela took charge of his first training session on Thursday and will be immediately into the fray away against Polokwane City on Sunday.
Mabhuti Khenyeza has been demoted to assistant coach after his horror run in charge, alongside Musa Bilankulu.
Khenyeza is suspended for the trip to Polokwane after an accumulation of yellow cards
“Lamontville Golden Arrows welcomes back coach Steve Komphela, who is no stranger to the club, the values and culture of the club. We look foward to his knowledge and guidance as we seek to finish the season strong. Welcome back Steve,” said a club statement.
Komphela is the second longest serving coach in the DStv Premiership after Gavin Hunt.
His first coaching job was at Manning Rangers in 2003 and his career has taken in stints in charge of Dynamos, Free State Stars (two stints), Platinum Stars, Maritzburg United, Kaizer Chiefs, Bloemfontein Celtic, Arrows and Swallows.
He has had 458 games in charge.
