Arsenal v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Arsenal have won their last four Premier League games against Wolves, having won just two of their
previous eight against them (D3 L3).
Wolves have never kept a clean sheet in 18 previous Premier League games against Arsenal, losing this
exact fixture 5-0 last season. In Premier League history, only West Bromwich Albion have faced an
opponent more without ever recording a shutout (26, also against Arsenal).
Arsenal have scored in their last 31 meetings with Wolves in all competitions, since a 1-0 home loss in
February 1979. If they score here, it will equal their longest scoring streak against an opponent in their
history (current run of 32 against West Bromwich Albion).
Wolves have already won a Premier League game against the league leaders this season, beating
Manchester City 2-1 in September. However, they’ve lost all six of their away games against sides in first
place in the competition.
Arsenal have kept the most clean sheets (6) and conceded the fewest goals (10) of any Premier League
side this season. Their 10 goals conceded is their fewest 13 games into a season since 2013-14 (also 10).
Arsenal have won 50% of their Premier League games in December (86/172), only having a lower win rate
in January (48.7%) and November (45.4%) between August and May in the competition. However, they’ve
won their last six in December, their longest such run in the month in the Premier League.
Since losing 1-0 to Manchester United on MD1, Wolves have now scored in each of their last 12 Premier
League games. It’s their second longest scoring streak in Premier League history, following an 18-game run
between August and December 2019.
Gabriel Jesus has been involved in seven goals in his six Premier League starts against Wolves (6 goals, 1
assist), scoring and assisting in Arsenal’s 5-0 win in this exact fixture last season.
Bukayo Saka’s nine goals and assists have been worth nine points to Arsenal in the Premier League this
season, with Saka assisting Kai Havertz’s winner at Brentford last time out. Only Erling Haaland’s goal
involvements have been worth more points to his side this season (10).
Only Mohamed Salah (11) has scored or assisted a goal in more different Premier League games than
Wolves’ Hwang Hee-Chan (9) this season. Hwang hasn’t scored or assisted more than once in any game so far, with no player having more goal involvements without doing so more than once in a game (9, same as Bukayo Saka).
Brentford v Luton Town
Brentford have won five of their last six league games against Luton (L1), including home and away wins
the last time the sides met in the 2020-21 Championship campaign.
Luton have lost their last five away league games against Brentford and are winless in 10 league visits to
the Bees since a 2-1 win in the second tier in September 1992.
Luton have won just one of their last 37 top-flight away games against London sides (D9 L27), beating
Wimbledon 2-1 in February 1990. They’ve lost both visits to the capital this season without scoring.
Brentford have won each of their last five Premier League home games against promoted sides, since
losing 2-1 against Norwich City in November 2021.
After a run of three consecutive wins, Brentford have lost their last two Premier League games by an
aggregate score of 4-0. They’ve not lost three consecutive league games without scoring since March 2012
in League One.
Luton are one of four sides yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season. Having conceded
nine goals in their first three games (3 per game), they’ve since conceded 14 in their last 10 (1.4 per game).
Luton have scored a league-high share 83% of their Premier League goals in the second half of games this
season (10/12). Eight of these 10 strikes have come in the final 15 minutes, with only Arsenal and
Liverpool (9 each) netting more in this period.
Only Sheffield United (44 minutes) have been leading for fewer minutes than Luton in the Premier League
this season (85), while only Manchester City (91), Tottenham (99) and Arsenal (165) have been trailing for
fewer minutes than Brentford (181).
Luton’s top scorer this season, Carlton Morris, scored in his only previous league game against Brentford,
netting in a 2-0 win for Barnsley at the Gtech Community Stadium in the Championship in February 2021.
Only James Ward-Prowse (21) has created more chances from set plays than Luton’s Alfie Doughty this
season (16). Meanwhile, of players with at least 20 chances created, only Ward-Prowse (70%) has created
a higher share from set plays than Brentford’s Mathias Jensen (65% - 13/20).
Burnley v Sheffield United
Burnley have won four of their last five home league games against Sheffield United (D1), beating them 2-0
at Turf Moor in the Championship last season.
The away side has lost three of the four Premier League meetings between Burnley and Sheffield United,
with the exception being a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor in July 2020.
Sheffield United have never lost a Premier League game against sides starting the day bottom of the table
(W4 D7). This is their first such game since a 1-1 draw with Fulham in October 2020.
The away side has won 10 of the last 17 Premier League meetings between two promoted sides (D3 L4),
as many as they had in the previous 63 such games (D15 L38).
Burnley have lost all seven of their Premier League home games this season and could become the first
team in English Football League history to lose each of their first eight at home in a single campaign.
Including two games in the 2021-22 campaign, Burnley have lost each of their last nine Premier League
home games. Only Watford (11 in 2021-22) and Sunderland (10 between 2003 and 2005) have ever lost
more consecutively at home in the competition.
Sheffield United have only been ahead for 44 minutes in the Premier League this season, the fewest of any
side. Meanwhile, Burnley have trailed for a league-high 563 minutes so far this term.
Burnley and Sheffield United are two of the four sides yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this
term (along with Brighton and Luton). They’re also the two sides with the most goals conceded so far this
term (Sheffield United 34, Burnley 32).
Sheffield United have lost 25 of their last 30 Premier League away games (W2 D3), with their 1-0 victory at
Everton in May 2021 their only clean sheet on the road in this run.
Burnley’s Luca Koleosho has had more touches in the opposition box than any other player yet to score in
the Premier League this season (48), while only Enzo Fernández (22) has had more shots without scoring
than the Italian (19).
Â
Nottingham Forest – Everton
Both Premier League meetings between Nottingham Forest and Everton were drawn last season – the first
10 games between the sides in the competition saw wins for either Forest (4) or Everton (6).
Everton are unbeaten in their last three away league games against Nottingham Forest (W2 D1), since a 3-2 loss in September 1995. They’ve never gone four without defeat at the City Ground before.
Nottingham Forest’s last two league games have both finished in 3-2 defeats. Indeed, since the start of last
season they’ve lost more Premier League games while scoring 2+ goals than any other side, with their six
such defeats in that time more than they’d suffered in their previous five campaigns in the competition
combined (5).
Nottingham Forest’s 3-2 defeat against Brighton last time out at the City Ground ended their eight-game
unbeaten run at home in the Premier League (W5 D3). They last lost consecutive such matches in
August/September last season (a run of three).
No team has failed to score in more different Premier League matches than Everton this season (6), with
the Toffees having the biggest negative difference (-6.6) between goals scored (14) and expected goals
(20.6) so far this term.
Everton haven’t lost consecutive Premier League games since their first three matches this season, going
down 3-0 against Manchester United last time out. However, they’ve won three of their last four away
league games (L1), as many as in their previous 38 on the road.
Only West Ham (7) have scored more headed goals in the Premier League this season than Nottingham
Forest (6). Only in 1994-95 (7) have Forest ever scored more headers in a single Premier League campaign.
Having lost two of his first three meetings with Nottingham Forest in all competitions (D1), Everton boss
Sean Dyche is now unbeaten in his last seven against them. He’s alternated between either defeat/victory
(W3 L2) and a draw (5) in all 10 against them, drawing 2-2 in his last meeting.
Anthony Elanga has scored in each of his last two Premier League appearances and could be the first
Nottingham Forest player aged 21 or under to score in three in a row in the competition.
Since Sean Dyche’s arrival, Abdoulaye Doucouré has both scored (9) and been involved in (11) more
Premier League goals than any other Everton player. The Malian has scored in five of the Toffees’ last six
Premier League victories.
Newcastle United v Manchester United
Newcastle won this exact fixture 2-0 in April – they’ve not beaten Manchester United in consecutive league
games since October 1972.
Manchester United are winless in their last three league games against Newcastle (D2 L1), having won six
of seven against them before this (L1). They last went four without a win against the Magpies between
April 1987 and November 1988 (D2 L2).
Having won 2-0 in the Premier League in April and 3-0 in the League Cup last month, Newcastle are looking
to win three consecutive meetings with Manchester United in all competitions for the first time since
January 1922.
Newcastle kept a clean sheet in both Premier League meetings with Manchester United last season –
they’ve not gone three league games in a row without conceding against the Red Devils since November
1897 in the second tier.
Newcastle’s last five Premier League wins against Manchester United have been to nil. Since beating them
4-3 at St James’ Park in September 2001, the Magpies are winless in 30 against the Red Devils when
conceding at least once (D5 L25).
Since losing 2-1 against Liverpool in August, Newcastle have won their last five Premier League home
games by an aggregate score of 12-1. They last won six in a row at St James’ Park in April 2022.
None of Manchester United’s last 20 Premier League games has ended in a draw (W13 L7). Only once in
their top-flight history have they had a longer run without a draw, going 21 games in the 1893-94 campaign
(W4 L17).
Manchester United have won their last three Premier League games by an aggregate score of 5-0, with
their 3-0 win at Everton last time out their first victory by more than one goal this term. The Red Devils
haven’t won four in a row without conceding since August 2017, while they last did so within the same
season in March 2013 (6).
Having won just three of their first 12 Premier League away games in 2023 (D2 L7), Manchester United
have now won each of their last four on the road. They last won more consecutively between June and
December 2020 (10).
Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon has been involved in six goals in his last seven Premier League games (4
goals, 2 assists), as many as in his previous 45 appearances (5 goals, 1 assist).
Bournemouth v Aston Villa
Bournemouth have won four of their six Premier League meetings with Aston Villa (L2), only having a
higher win rate against Huddersfield (75%) in the competition than against the Villans (67%).
After losing four consecutive league games against Bournemouth between 2016 and 2022, Aston Villa won
the last meeting 3-0 in March last season.
This is the latest into a season Aston Villa are playing a Premier League game while in the top four of the
table since December 2009, and a 3-0 defeat at Arsenal in their 19th match of the season.
Bournemouth have won three of their last four Premier League games (L1), having been winless in 13
before this (D3 L10). They’ve not won more consecutively in the top-flight since a run of four between MayAugust 2018, while they last won three in a row in the same season in March 2016.
Only Manchester City (26) have won more Premier League games in 2023 than Aston Villa, with their 22
wins twice as many as they managed in 2022 (11). The Villans last won more league games in a single
calendar year as a top-flight club in 1931 (24).
Heading into MD14, only Manchester City (33) have scored more Premier League goals than Aston Villa
(31) so far this season. The Villans rate of 2.4 goals per game is their highest across a league season since
1931-32 (2.48).
Including penalties, Bournemouth have both scored the fewest (1) and conceded the most (10) goals from
set piece situations in the Premier League this season.
Since the weekend of his first Premier League game in charge of the club, only Man City (89), Arsenal (83)
and Liverpool (79) have won more points than Unai Emery’s Aston Villa (77), with only Man City (28) and
Arsenal (25) winning more games than Villa during this period (24). The Spaniard has the best win rate
(63.2%) and highest points-per-game average (2) of any permanent Villa manager in Premier League
history.
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has won both of his previous meetings with Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, with
his Villarreal side winning home (2-0) and away (5-1) games against Rayo Vallecano in the 2021-22 LaLiga
campaign.
Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins has been involved in 10 goals in his last eight Premier League games (7 goals, 3
assists). Overall, he’s been involved in more goals than any other English player in the division this season
(12 – 7 goals, 5 assists).
Chelsea v Brighton and Hove Albion
Having won 10 of their first 11 league games against Brighton (D1), Chelsea are now winless in five against
the Seagulls (D3 L2), losing both Premier League meetings last season.
Brighton have failed to score in eight of their 10 away games against Chelsea in all competitions, including
a 1-0 defeat already this season in the EFL Cup.
Chelsea have lost five of their 13 Premier League games this season, only the second time in their last 28
seasons they have lost as many at this stage of a season, along with 2015-16 (7). They’ve also shipped 20
goals at this stage of a Premier League campaign for just a second time, with the other instance also in
2015-16 when they’d conceded 23 as reigning champions.
Brighton are one of only four sides yet to keep a Premier League clean sheet this season, with the Seagulls
making a joint high four errors leading to goals this season. They have also scored in every game, however,
and could become just the sixth top-flight team ever to score and concede in their first 14 matches in a
season, and first since Wolves back in 1934-35.
Chelsea have shipped four goals in each of their last two games, drawing 4-4 with Man City and losing 4-1
at Newcastle. It’s the first time they’ve done so in consecutive top-flight games since December 1989,
when they did so in three games in a row against Wimbledon, QPR and Liverpool.
Brighton and Hove Albion’s 13 Premier League games this season have seen 51 goals scored (28 for, 23
conceded), the most of any team. The Seagulls have scored and conceded in their last 17 Premier League
games, with Newcastle United the last top-flight team to have a longer such run (21 between December
1957 and August 1958).
After going 63 Premier League games in a row without a red card between February 2022 and the start of
November, Brighton have received a red card in each of their last two games. Lewis Dunk’s red against
Nottingham Forest was his fifth in the Premier League, the most of any player since Brighton joined the
division in 2017-18.
Danny Welbeck scored in his first Premier League away game against Chelsea (with Sunderland in
November 2010) and has scored on his last two visits with Brighton. The only player to score in four games
at Stamford Bridge as a visiting player in the competition is Javier Hernández.
Raheem Sterling has been involved in one goal in each of his last three Premier League appearances (2
goals, 1 assist), his best run as a Chelsea player. He’s looking to score in three games in a row for the first
time since December 2021, when he was at Manchester City (four in a row).
Pascal Groß has been involved in 10 goals in his last 18 Premier League appearances (5 goals, 5 assists),
assisting two goals in Brighton’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest. Since the start of the 2017-18 season,
only Kevin De Bruyne (544) has created more chances in the Premier League than the German (433).
Liverpool v Fulham
Liverpool have lost just one of their last 10 Premier League games against Fulham (W7 D2), a 1-0 home
loss in March 2021.
Fulham have scored just four goals in 16 Premier League away games against Liverpool, and never more
than once in a match. It’s the lowest goals-per-game ratio (0.25) of any team to play more than 10 away
games against an opponent in the competition.
Since a 1-0 defeat to Fulham at Anfield in March 2021, which was the sixth consecutive league defeat
suffered by the Reds on home soil, Liverpool have lost just one of their last 48 Premier League matches at
Anfield (W37 D10) – a 2-1 loss to Leeds United in October 2022.
Fulham have won none of their last six away Premier League games (D3 L3), though their last win was on
Merseyside in August, a 1-0 win at Everton. Indeed, Fulham have won four of their last five away league
games against Everton and Liverpool (L1), having only won one of their first 55 such visits in league
football beforehand.
Liverpool have lost just one of their last 11 Premier League games when falling behind (W4 D6) and that
was after going 2-1 down in the 96th minute at Spurs in September. The Reds have won the most points
from losing positions in the competition this season (12).
Only Arsenal’s (7 – 6F 1A) Premier League games have seen more penalties scored than Fulham’s so far
this season (6 – 2F 4A). Only Wolves (5) have conceded more penalty goals than Fulham (4) in the division
so far, while no team has scored more from the spot without conceding one than Liverpool (3).
Liverpool have conceded just three goals in the second half of Premier League games this season, failing
to win any of the three times they’ve shipped after half-time (D2 L1). Meanwhile, eight of Fulham’s last nine
Premier League goals have come in the second half.
Liverpool have won 19 Premier League games in 2023 and have registered at least 20 wins in all seven
previous full years under Jürgen Klopp’s management. The Reds last won 20+ league games in eight years
back-to-back between 1971 and 1980 (10 in a row), while only two managers have ever won 20+ Premier
League games in eight years in a row: Arsène Wenger (13, 1998-2010) and Sir Alex Ferguson (8, 2005-12).
After not scoring or assisting in any of his first four Premier League appearances in 2023, Liverpool’s
Mohamed Salah has 22 goals and 13 assists in his last 31 league appearances this year. Only Salah
himself (40 in 2018) and Luis Suárez (37 in 2013) have ever registered more Premier League goals and
assists combined in a calendar year for the Reds, while only Trent Alexander-Arnold (17 in 2019) has more
assists in a year.
Trent Alexander-Arnold scored his 13th Premier League goal for Liverpool in their 1-1 draw at Man City in
last weekend’s match. All 13 of those goals have been scored with his right-foot, with only Luka Milivojevic
(28), Jorginho (21) and Xabi Alonso (14) scoring more goals in Premier League history exclusively rightfooted.
West Ham United – Crystal Palace
West Ham lost both Premier League games against Crystal Palace last season, as many defeats as they’d
suffered in their previous 14 against the Eagles. They’ve never lost three in a row against them in league
competition before.
Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last four Premier League away games against West Ham (W2 D2) and
are looking to win on consecutive visits for the first time since February 2015.
Both teams have scored in each of the last 12 Premier League meetings between West Ham and Crystal
Palace – only Fulham against Man City (15 between 2004-2011) and Newcastle vs Wolves (13 between
2003-2021) have seen longer such streaks in the competition.
Crystal Palace have won just two of their 16 Premier League London derby matches since the start of last
season (D5 L9), though both of these victories have come against West Ham.
West Ham have won their last two Premier League games, more than they’d won in their previous seven
(W1 D1 L5). The Hammers last won three in a row in August and September this season.
Crystal Palace have lost four of their last five Premier League games (W1), as many as they did in their first
18 games of Roy Hodgson’s second spell in charge (W8 D6 L4). Palace haven’t lost three in a row under
Hodgson since May 2021.
West Ham United have won their last two Premier League games despite falling behind in both games,
having won only two of their previous 45 games when going behind (D10 L33). It’s the first time the
Hammers have won consecutive games despite trailing in each since December 2014 against West Brom
and Swansea.
Tomas Soucek scored the winning goal in West Ham’s last two Premier League games, doing so against
Nottingham Forest (88th minute) and Burnley (90th). It is just the fifth instance of a player netting the winner
in the 86th minute or later of consecutive Premier League appearances, and the first since Diego Costa in
August 2016 for Chelsea (vs West Ham and Watford). No player has ever done that in three games in a
row.
50% of Tomas Soucek’s Premier League goals for West Ham United have come via set plays (12/24 – nine
via corners, three free kicks). Since February 2020, the only player with more goals from set plays (excl.
penalties and direct free kicks) is Mohamed Salah (13).
Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise has been involved in seven goals in his last 10 Premier League starts (1
goal, 6 assists). Since his debut in September 2021, only Bukayo Saka (46) and Gabriel Martinelli (32) have
more Premier League goal involvements while aged 21 or younger than Olise (21 – 5 goals, 16 assists).
Manchester City vTottenham Hotspur
Man City have lost just two of their last 13 Premier League home games against Tottenham (W9 D2), going
down 2-1 in February 2016 and 3-2 in February 2022.
Tottenham have won five of their last seven Premier League games against Man City (L2), more than they
had in their previous 19 against them (W4 D3 L12).
Since Pep Guardiola joined the club in 2016, Man City have lost more Premier League games against
Tottenham Hotspur than they have against any other opponent (6), while against no side have they
conceded more goals (19, level with Liverpool).
Manchester City have failed to win in four of their last seven Premier League games (W3 D2 L2), as many
as in their previous 26 games beforehand (W22 D2 L2). City have drawn their last two games, not drawing
three in a row since March and April 2017 in Pep Guardiola’s first season in charge.
Tottenham Hotspur have lost their last three Premier League matches, having been unbeaten in their
previous 11 games (W9 D2). Spurs haven’t had a longer losing run since losing six on the spin in October
and November 2004, with Jacques Santini and Martin Jol managing three games each in that run. The last
Spurs manager to lose four in a row was David Pleat in March and April 2004.
Man City have drawn their last two Premier League games despite going ahead in both games. City haven’t
gone ahead in three games in a row and failed to win any since November 2009, in draws against Burnley,
Liverpool and Hull City.
Tottenham have scored first in their last three Premier League matches but gone on to lose all three, only
the fifth side to do that in Premier League history and first since Leicester in December 2014. No team has
ever scored first and lost four games in a row.
Dejan Kulusevski has scored for Tottenham away at Man City in each of the last two seasons. The only
player in Premier League history to score away against the reigning champions in three consecutive
campaigns is Danny Murphy, who did so in four between 2000-01 and 2003-04.
Tottenham’s Son Heung-min has scored away Premier League goals against Leicester City, Chelsea and
Liverpool when they had won the league in the previous campaign. No player has ever scored on the road
against four different reigning champions before.
Erling Haaland netted his 50th Premier League goal in Man City’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool last time out,
doing so in the fewest appearances of any player to reach that milestone (48 games). He’s never ended on
the losing side in a game he’s scored in (P32 W27 D5), with only four players in Premier League history
scoring in more without losing.
