Cape Town Spurs have re-signed former Ajax Amsterdam youth player Leo Thethani as they look to ush for promotion to the DStv Premiership next season.
The second-tier club have sealed the signature of the 23-year-old, who came through the ranks at Ikamva before moving to Amsterdam in 2017 along with defender Dean Solomons.
Both played a handful of games for the junior and reserve sides, but were released at the end of the 2019/20 season, with Thethani having been clubless since.
He had hoped to stay in Europe but has been unable to find a club and so will return home in the hopes of kick-starting his career.
Spurs, who were rebranded from Ajax Cape Town in 2020 when the Dutch club pulled out of the partnership, flirted with relegation last season under coach Shaun Bartlett, but will now be hoping to compete at the right end of the table.
They have made a number of signings already, including stalwart defenders Clayton Daniels and Nazeer Allie, who both began their careers at Ajax, and midfielder Michael Morton, to name just a few.
