The Springbok Sevens side surged into the semifinals of the Perth SVNS tournament on Saturday, smashing Sevens magicians Fiji 19-0 in their quarterfinal.

Fiji, who have struggled in Perth and lost to Uruguay on day one, were never a match for the Blitzboks as they were dominated from start to finish.

The Blitzboks now face hosts Australia, who they beat on day one, in the semifinals and then the winner of Spain and Argentina if they make it to the final.

The match started off well with a break by Zain Davids before Selvyn Davids and Ronald Brown combined well on attack more than once before Davids popped a pass to Shilton van Wyk in space to score the opening try.

Selvyn set the crowd alight from the restart as he got the ball on the edge with two Fijians on him, toed the ball forward and somehow snuck underneath them to get to the ball first and touch down for the second try.

Van Wyk scored a second but it was disallowed, but the Blitzboks did have the final say when Selvyn won a penalty, quick tapped and sent it to a flying Quewin Nortje, who was tackled illegally by a retreating player, Iowane Teba, as he was about to score. The referee had no hesitation as he awarded a yellow card and a penalty try.

The Blitzboks controlled the rest of the game to keep Fiji scoreless and set themselves up for a potentially excellent final day on Sunday in Perth.

The semifinals will kick off at 9.05am on Sunday (GMT, CAT+2) with the Blitzboks in action at 9.27am
