FC Copenhagen v Manchester City – 18:45 CAT
FC Copenhagen hosted Manchester City in the UEFA Cup in 2008-09, in a Last 32 first leg match. The game finished 2-2, with Nedum Onuoha and Stephen Ireland scoring for the visitors.
Manchester City beat FC Copenhagen 5-0 last time out – their best combined record against an opponent in a single UEFA Champions League campaign is 9-0 vs Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018-19 (3-0 A, 6-0 H).
Manchester City’s last visit to Denmark saw them lose 2-0 to Aalborg BK in a UEFA Cup Last 16 second leg match in 2008-09. Having won the first leg 2-0 in Manchester City, the game went to penalties, with Manchester City progressing after winning the shootout.
Maccabi Haifa v Juventus – 18:45 CAT
Maccabi Haifa have lost all three of their matches against Juventus to date – home and away in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League in 2009-10, and again last week in Turin.
Juventus have won all three of their UEFA Champions League matches against Maccabi Haifa, and could beat an opponent in four consecutive games in the competition for a fourth time, after Ajax (four games up to November 2004), Dynamo Kyiv (five games as of December 2020) and Malmö FF (four games as of December 2021).
Dinamo Zagreb v FC Red Bull Salzburg – 21:00 CAT
Dinamo Zagreb have lost all three of their major European matches against FC Red Bull Salzburg, losing twice in the 2014-15 UEFA Europa League and on MD3 of this season’s Champions League.
FC Red Bull Salzburg are unbeaten in all three of their away European matches against Dinamo Zagreb (W2 D1), with those games coming in the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase and Europa League group stage between 2009 and 2016.
Milan v Chelsea – 21:00 CAT
AC Milan are winless in five meetings against Chelsea in Europe (D3 L2) since winning the very first match between the two sides in the Fairs Cup in February 1966. Having lost last week, Milan have never previously lost consecutive games against the Blues.
Chelsea only allowed four shots against Milan last time out. Since Opta have this data available for the UEFA Champions League, the Blues have only faced fewer in a game in the competition twice, doing so vs Malmö FF in October 2021 (two) and vs Galatasaray in March 2014 (three).
AC Milan have lost four of the last five games when hosting an English team in the UEFA Champions League, with their only victory coming against Arsenal in February 2012 (4-0). The only previous time they hosted Chelsea in the competition was in a 1-1 draw in the first group stage in October 1999.
Shakhtar Donetsk v Real Madrid – 21:00 CAT
After beating Real Madrid home and away in the UEFA Champions League in 2020-21, Shakhtar Donetsk have since lost each of their last three meetings with them in the competition – 0-5 at home and 1-2 away in 2021-22, and 1-2 away this season.
The previous three instances of Shakhtar Donetsk hosting Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League have seen a total of 14 goals scored (five for Shakhtar, nine for Real Madrid), at an average of 4.7 per game.
Despite only conceding two goals, Shakhtar Donetsk faced 36 shots and 14 on target in their previous game against Real Madrid – since 2003-04 (when this data is available), these are both the highest totals for the Ukrainian side in a UEFA Champions League match.
Celtic v RB Leipzig – 21:00 CAT
Celtic have lost two of their three European matches against RB Leipzig but both defeats came away from home, with the Bhoys winning 2-1 at home in the other game in November 2018 in the UEFA Europa League.
This will be RB Leipzig’s sixth European match against a Scottish opponent – they’ve won their three home games but lost both of their away games in Scotland, losing 2-1 to Celtic in 2018 and 3-1 to Rangers in the UEFA Europa League semi-final last season.
Borussia Dortmund v Sevilla – 21:00 CAT
Borussia Dortmund have only lost one of the previous nine games in which they’ve hosted a Spanish side in the UEFA Champions League (W5 D3), with that defeat coming against Real Madrid in 2017-18 – the team who would go on to lift the trophy that season.
Sevilla have only won one of their last eight matches against German opposition in the UEFA Champions League (D3 L4), with that victory coming at home to Wolfsburg in last season’s group stage.
Borussia Dortmund have now beaten Sevilla on two occasions in the UEFA Champions League (in 2020-21 and on MD3 this season) – should they win this game, the only opponent they will have registered more wins against in the competition would be Galatasaray (4).
Paris Saint-Germain v Benfica – 21:00 CAT
Paris Saint-Germain have hosted Benfica on three previous occasions in European competition, with the French side unbeaten across all three – 2-1 in the UEFA Cup in March 2007, 1-1 in the UEFA Europa League in March 2011 and 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League in October 2013.
No Portuguese side has ever won away at Paris Saint-Germain in European competition, with the seven previous instances resulting in two draws and five defeats. All three that have occurred in the UEFA Champions League have ended in defeat, with FC Porto losing twice (2004 and 2012) and Benfica once (2013).
Paris Saint-Germain have won each of their last five home games in the UEFA Champions League, and could equal their longest winning streak at home in the competition (six games – once in a run ending in November 2014 and another ending in October 2000).
