Opta’s prediction model currently has Manchester City as the favourites to win this season’s Uefa Champions League (25.1 per cent), with the side to progress from their quarterfinal tie with Bayern Munich (21.8 per cent) being considered as the overall favourites for the competition.

The reigning champions Real Madrid are the second-most favoured team in the quarterfinals (64.7 per cent), just behind Napoli (68.5 per cent). Los Blancos, however, are currently the fourth-best placed team in the competition in terms of going on to win the trophy (10.5 per cent).

Following the departure of Graham Potter, the model has Chelsea as the least likely of the eight quarterfinalists to win the Uefa Champions League this season (2.5 per cent), while only Milan (31.5 per cent) have a lower probability of progressing to the semifinals than Chelsea (35.3 per cent).
