Current Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams was at SuperSport United from 2004 when he joined the club’s youth ranks, until his departure ahead of the current season. He was with the club for 18 years progressing through its various divisions.

Williams was part of the SuperSport United first team for a decade, making his senior debut for the club in 2012, he won six domestic cup titles during his time at SuperSport where he featured in over 350 games in all competitions. During his time with SuperSport, he won three Nedbank Cups, two MTN 8 trophies and one Telkom Knock-Out title. His individual achievements at SuperSport saw him win the PSL Young Player of the Year award in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. He was the MTN 8 last man standing in 2017-18 and PSL Goalkeeper of the Year in the 2018-2019 and 2019-20 seasons.

As a SuperSport United player, Williams featured in this game for his former club on 19 occasions in the league, his record in these games reads W3 D4 L12.

After failing to win their opening four league games of the campaign (D2 L2), SuperSport defeated DStv Premiership newcomers Richards Bay 1-0 in their last league game away from home. That was their first win of the new campaign and the second time this season that they have kept a clean sheet. It was their first on the road this season.

SuperSport are yet to win at home this season they have drawn both their home fixtures this campaign a 1-1 draw with Chippa and a 0-0 draw with Orlando Pirates.

SuperSport have struggled in front of goal this season scoring just three goals, they have a shot conversion rate of 6,38 per cent.
