The FIH Pro League classroom has been a tough one for the South African Hockey Men, who despite a harrowing start equipped themselves gainfully in the final few encounters in Potchefstroom.
The team now head to Argentina to play the next two matches of their 16-match schedule in their inaugural, and as it stands only, venture into the flagship event.
For the South African men the chance to take on the 2016 Olympic Gold Medallists in front of a capacity crowd is enough to get excited about.
The Squad will take on the Argentines in two test matches back-to-back on 23 and 24 April in Buenos Aires.
Coach Garreth Ewing is unable to travel with the team as he recovers from illness and will be under the guidance of Sihle Ntuli and Cheslin Gie in Argentina.
The team welcome back captain Tim Drummond who missed the home leg, along with Matt Guise-Brown, while Sam Mvimbi makes a welcome return to the team after missing out on Ghana and Potch.
Guy Morgan, captain of the SA U21 Men at the Junior World Cup, will make his debut if selected in the two games along with Thabang Modise and Trevor de Lora.
The team are missing a number of players this time round with Nic Spooner, the Cassiem Brothers as well as Dan Bell and Taine Paton not available after featuring in the Potchefstroom leg.
For the South African Men the main focus is still on the Commonwealth Games, the FIH Nations Cup and the FIH World Cup over the next 9 months. The opportunity to take part in games like this will have the players licking their lips at the opportunity, one that has been cried out for over a number of years.
