We are honoured this month to bring you the First Lady of Sport - Carol Tshabalala - as we highlight the incredible line-up of action available on SuperSport this February.
Who are you and what do you do?
I am Simply Carol Tshabalala, award-winning sports broadcaster.
Take us through your SuperSport journey
I first got into the field at a very early age when I auditioned for Sports Buzz, which was a junior sports show on the national broadcaster. That is where it all began.
I worked at the SABC for 11 years covering a variety of sporting codes, while was also making footprints in radio as a sports journalist on Kaya FM. I moved to Radio 2000 and then made my entry into SuperSport where my career really flourished.
I have won numerous prestigious awards and hosted world-class iconic events in my career, such as the FIFA Ballon d’Or.
Which sports do you enjoy watching and why?
Oh man, tough one as I love a variety of sporting codes. The standout ones are probably boxing, football and basketball. I love how people come together at matches to display the healthy rivalry between the teams and athletes.

SuperSport turned 30 year in 2025. What was your sports highlight from the past 30 years?
Yes! A big milestone for an incredible broadcasting corporation that has been at the helm of all the action for so long!
I think one worth mentioning is signing the rights to the Premier Soccer League and getting to enjoy derbies and the very best of the local game in high definition. I really think that South African football is thrilling and offers top quality, world-class entertainment.
I am proud to have been a part of our historic football journey.
Share a personal highlight from your time at SuperSport?
Definitely hosting the 10th birthday of the PSL on SuperSport in 2017 is one of my highlights - it was one of my first big events that I hosted at my new broadcasting home.
It was a wonderful feeling to be at the forefront of that.
What’s your guilty viewing pleasure?
Besides sports….series! Game of Thrones will remain my all time favorite series, while I also enjoy watching cooking and dating shows. Big fan of movies too.
Looking at all the sport happening in February – what will you be watching?
I am looking forward to plenty and it’s all available on your World of Champions…
In the main: the Soweto Derby on the 28th of Feb, but the boxing in East London on the 26th is high on my list.
You name it, we have it all. So make sure to keep it locked on the only channel that matters.
