Dire Dawa City and their head coach Asrat Abate have parted ways by mutual agreement.

The club revealed that Asrat asked to leave his position due to the club's poor performance this season.

Dire Dawa has been hovering around the lower rungs of the table and presently in the 12th position with 11 points from 11 matches.

They have won 3 matches, earned 2 draws and lost 6 matches, scoring 12 goals and conceeding 17.

Their goalscoring is up there with teams like Wolaitta Dicha in 6th place but defensively, they have been poor.

They will take on the defending champions St George in very difficult circumstances with this development on Saturday.

However, it is hoped that there's not a better time than now to face the mighty "Horsemen" who have been in a flux themselves.

Dire Dawa desperately need a win to get some cushion especially with Ethiopian Insurance and Wolkite City both having 9 points, just 2 points behind them.

They also cannot ignore the bottom Clubs, Shashemene City and Hambericho Durame

Shashemene City, who are second from bottom won last week to go to 7 points, making the relegation zone much more interesting.
