The Betking Ethiopian Premier League transfer window is upon us and there already are some big-name transfers to report with Firew Solomon and Binyam Getachew grabbing the latest headlines.
It was a very exciting season with the title race and relegation battles going down to the wire, but now all the attention has turned to transfer news.
It is expected that the13 clubs that were in the league last season, along with the newly promoted teams, Shashemene City, Ethiopia Commercial Bank and Hambericho Durame, will all be active ahead of the 2023/24 season.
In the transfers made so far, Bahir Dar City and Ethiopia Commercial Bank have signed new players, while Ethiopia Insurance and Saint George have extended contracts of some players.

Firew Solomon - From Sidama Coffee to Bahir Dar City
One of the most experienced players in the Ethiopian Premier League, Solomon (Takuru) left Sidama Coffee and has joined Bahir Dar City on a two-year contract.
He played all 30 matches of the season and scored four goals.
Solomon is remembered for playing for Mekelakeya and Wolkite City before joining Sidama Coffee.
Kitika Jama - From Ethiopian Insurance to Ethiopian Commercial Bank
One of the top performers last season, Jama has completed his transfer from Ethiopian Insurance to Ethiopian Commercial Bank.
Jama will be teaming up for the third time with coach Betselot Leuleseged.
Jama, who started his playing career in the Ethiopian Coffee youth team, previously worked together with Leuleseged at Gelan City and Ethiopia Insurance.
The player scored five goals in 26 matches during the 2022/23 season.
Binyam Getachew - From Dire Dawa City to Ethiopia Commercial Bank
Getachew, who finished as the third top scorer in the 2015 Premier League, is the other player who joined Ethiopia Commercial Bank.
Getachew scored 14 goals for Dire Dawa City in the last season.
He has previously played for Hambaricho Durame, Axum City, Selte Warabe and Addis Ababa City.
Tesfaye Tamrat - From Bahir Dar City to Ethiopian Commercial Bank
The central defender, who spent the season in Bahir Dar City, is another player who joined Ethiopian Commercial Bank.
Before joining the Tana Waves, Tamrat spent time playing for ECWC, Gelan City and Ethiopia Insurance.
Tamrat previoulsy worked with the current head coach of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia while playing at Gelan City and Ethiopia Insurance.
