The 2020/21 Betking Ethiopia Premier League winners , Fasil Kenema has appointed the former head Coach of the Ethiopian national team, Wubetu Abate, as the head coach.
Fasil Kenema has had a less-than-expected run in the 2022/23 season. The team that finished as champions in 2020/21 and second in 2021/22 finished in 6th place last season.
The team, which ended the season under the Ashenafi Bekele, hired the former coach, Wubetu Abate, again.
Wubetu Abate will be leading the team for the next three years with a mandate to build a competitive and strong team in the first season and become champions in the second season.
Wubetu Abate said that other clubs were interested in hiring him, but he decided to take Fasil Kenema for three reasons.
"One is the feeling of the fans when he was coached Fasil Kenema and the second is seeing the desire and respect of the leaders to bring him and thirdly the convenience of working in the club for a longer period are the reasons for choosing the club."
Apart from this, he said that he refused the requests that came earlier, although he was offered various other jobs after departing with the national team.
Neither the coach nor the club leaders refused to answer the questions raised in relation to the salary.
Wubetu Abate previously coached Dedebit, Ethiopia Commercial Bank, Adama City, Hawassa City and Ethiopia Coffee, including Fasil Kenema.
In 2011, he was able to win the Ethiopian Premier League while coaching Ethiopia Coffee. In addition, he was able to train Al Ahly Shendi in the Sudanese League.
