The No 1 rated WBC cruiserweight Ryan “The Bruiser” Rozicki 20-1; 19 won on a first-round technical knockout over the No 8 rated Olanrewaju “God’s Power” Durodola 43-10; 40 in a WBC title eliminator on Saturday night at the Emera Centre Stadium in Sydney, Nova Scotia,
Rozicki stunned the 43-year-old Durodola and after a barrage of punches, the referee stopped the fight at 1 minute 47 seconds into the round.
As the official mandatory challenger Rozicki can now challenge the recently crowned WBC cruiserweight champion Noel Mikaelyan.
RYAN GARCIA STOPS OSCAR DUARTE IN ROUND EIGHT
In a bout fought at catchweight 143lbs (64.86kg) Ryan Garcia 24-1; 20 stopped Oscar “La Migraña” Duarte 26-2-1; 21 in the eighth round at the Toyota Centre in Houston, Texas on Saturday night.
Garcia was in control throughout before sending Duarte down and out in the eighth round. The time was 2:51.
On the same card WBA No 5 lightweight Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield 17-0; 12 dropped Ricardo “Explosivo” Torres 17-8-3; 12 four times in the first round before the referee waived the fight off at 1:51 into the round.
In a middleweight bout, Shane Mosley Jr. 21-4; 12 won on a sixth-round stoppage against Joshua Conley 17-6-1; 11.
Super middleweight Darius Fulghum 9-0; 9 smashed Pachino “Chino” Hill 8-5-1; 6 to defeat at 56 seconds into round two.
IAN GREEN WINS ON AN EIGHTH-ROUND KNOCKOUT
WBA Continental America’s middleweight champion Ian Green 18-2; 12 won on an eighth-round knockout against Vaughn Alexander 18-8-1; 11 at the Casino Miami Jai Alai, in Miami, Florida. The time was 2:40.
WBA/NABA welterweight champion Tre’Sean Wiggins 16-5-3; 9 won on a first-round technical knockout over Chris Howard 18-3-1; 8.
Wiggins dropped Howard, and after a follow-up barrage of punches, the fight was stopped at s 2:57 into the round.
Lightweight Antonio Perez 9-0; 5 won on a ten-round unanimous points decision over Haskell Rhodes 29-6-1; 14 to claim the vacant WBA International title.
Perez scored two knockdowns in the tenth round to win with scores of 100-88 on all three judges’ scorecards.
Middleweight Alexander Castro 14-1; 11 outscored Harry Cruz 14-4; 11 over ten rounds to win the WBA/ NABA title. The scores were 99-91 and 98-92 twice.
Junior welterweight DeVon Williams 4-0; 4 stopped Kendall Ward 1-11; 1 at 1:04 of the first round to win the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental title.
UNDERDOG JORDAN GILL WINS IN SEVEN
Underdog junior lightweight Jordan Gill 28-2-1; 9 stopped Michael Conlan 27-3-1; 8 in the seventh round on Saturday night at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Gill dropped Conlan in round two and got the referee’s stoppage at 1:09 into round seven.
Welterweight Lewis Crocker 18-0; 10 won on a ten-round unanimous points decision over Tyrone McKenna 23-4-1; 6. The scores were 100-90, 100-90, 98-92.
Junior middleweight Caoimhin Agyarko 14-0; 7 won on a ten-round split decision against former British champion Troy Williamson 20-2-1; 14. The scores were 96-94 for Williamson 98-92 and 97-93 for Agyarko.
Junior welterweight Sean “The Public Nusience” McComb 18-1; 5 won on a one-sided ten-round unanimous points decision over Sam Maxwell 17-3; 11. McComb scored knockdowns in rounds three, five, and nine. The scores were 100-87, 100-87, 99-88.
FELIX STURM WINS ON A TECHNICAL KNOCKOUT
Former two-division world champion 44-year-old Felix Sturm 44-6-3; 19 won on a ninth-round technical knockout against Sukru Altay 15-4; 14 in a return fight on Saturday night at the MHP Arena in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
In their first fight, Sturm won on a close unanimous points decision in February. The referee stopped the fight when Altay was not fighting back.
Light heavyweight Hamza Salahudin 11-0; 10 won against former world champion Cesar Rene Cuenca 48-5; 2, who did not come out at the bell for round five.
DERRIECK CUEVAS STOPS MARLON AGUAS IN THE SIXTH ROUND
WBA No 10 and WBO No 11 welterweight Derrieck “Pretty Boy” Cuevas 27-1-1; 19 won on a sixth-round technical knockout over Marlon “La Furia” Aguas 14-2; 9 on Friday night at the Coliseo de Combates in Panama City, Panama.
Cuevas scored a knockdown at the end of round five and the referee stopped the fight at 44 seconds into the sixth round.
Female flyweight Yanissa “Reckless” Castellon 4-1; 0 won on points over six rounds against WBO Latino champion Eveling “La Colocha” Ortega 6-5; 2. Scores were 58-56, 58-56, 59-55.
WBC No 10 junior flyweight Azael “Candelilla” Villar 20-2-4; 15 won on a ten-round unanimous points decision against WBO No 15 Ricardo “Ricky” Astuvilca 23-2; 5. The scores were 98-92 twice and 96-94.
WBA Gold super middleweight champion Uwel Hernandez 16-1; 10 won on an eighth-round stoppage over Alexi Rivera 11-4; 8.
WBA CREATES A NEW DIVISION
The World Boxing Association (WBA) have approved the creation of a new super cruiserweight division.
This new division will be between 200 (90.72kg) and 224 (101.60kg) pounds, matching the Bridgerweight division created by the WBC.
