South Africa’s Ludumo Lamati challenges Nick Bell from Liverpool, England for the WBC Silver featherweight title in a battle of unbeaten fighters at The SSE Arena (Odyssey Arena) in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Saturday night.
The 31-year-old Lamati (21-0-1; 11) from Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape has won the African Boxing Union, South African, IBF Intercontinental, and IBO junior featherweight titles in an outstanding career since he made his pro debut in April 2014.
The 26-year-old Ball (17-0; 10) has had a successful career since making his pro debut in June 2017 and captured the vacant WBC Silver featherweight title on 23 April 2022. He has made successful defences against Nathaniel Kokololo (tko 12) and Jesus Ramirez Rubio (tko 1).
Ball is rated at No 4 by the WBC, and at No 8 by WBO.
This is a tough test for Lamati, who is not ranked as a featherweight by any of the major boxing organisations and is moving up to the featherweight class against a top ranked boxer.
However, he rated at No 8 by the IBF in the junior featherweight class.
The fight will be on the undercard of the contest between Michael Conlan and Alberto Lopez for the IBF featherweight title.
