The LPGA Tour will remain in Shanghai this year but shift venues and feature a $3.2 million prize pot –- the largest in women's golf in Asia -– organisers said on Monday.
The Buick LPGA Shanghai will be held at the Sheshan International Golf Club from October 15 to 18.
The tournament had been held at the nearby Shanghai Qizhong Garden Golf Club since its debut in 2018, although the event was cancelled for three straight years during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 2025 edition was won by Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul, who collected $330 000 for her victory from a $2.2 million pot.
But the future of the event had come under scrutiny after damaged putting greens -– which organisers attributed to extreme heat -– played havoc during last year's event.
There had been suggestions the event would move even before that, with Hong Kong suggested as an alternative venue.
The US Women's Open, one of the sport's most lucrative events, featured $12 million in prize money in 2025.
