Western Province women coach Claire Terblanche is confident her side will give their best when they host Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers this weekend at Newlands Cricket Ground.
The two sides who are familiar with each other will start the weekend with the One-Day Cup on Saturday and follow with the T20 Challenge on Sunday in the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Professional Women’s Domestic League.
On both days the match is expected to start at 10:00.
Terblanche's charges have lost two matches and won just one so far in the 50 overs format while they have done well in T20 winning three matches.
Wicketkeeper Faye Tunnicliffe will captain the team in the absence of Leah Jones who is in the national team.
Terblanche knows that Badgers won't hold back at Newlands, but believes Province has done their homework.
"It's going to be quite exciting, the teams normally lift up their game. We play against each other and it's always tough going on the park between the two sides," said Terblanche.
"Badgers just that they always bring their best cricket when they play against us. So if we can level up as well as they level up when they play against us, I think, again, it's going to make for really exciting cricket.
"The 50-over on Saturday and the T20 on Sunday should be some really good cricket to behold over the weekend. And then we've had a good season so far in the T20 space, especially the 50-over space.
"We've got our foot in the door now with a win. And we're hoping to take that momentum going forward into this weekend's matches and just carry on from there with some good consistent performances.
Terblanche says there's always room to improve in the team in trying to better their playing ways.
She has hinted at a few tweaks in the team this weekend against the Badgers.
"It's just providing consistency in performances with bat and ball. We've got one player who is currently injured and then a few that are going on an emerging tour to Zimbabwe," she said.
"This does mean that we can give our youth, possibly a game or two over this weekend and just see what our depth looks like within our pipeline.
"But bear in mind that our national players are still available and they are also preparing for the incoming tour from Bangladesh. So hopefully that pans out quite nicely for everybody involved."
