Olav Kooij equalled the record of four straight Tour of Britain stage wins after victory in Newark-on-Trent on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Dutchman made it four wins in as many days after another textbook lead-out by his Jumbo-Visma teammate Wout van Aert.
Jumbo-Visma have dominated the first four stages, all of which have featured little climbing and ended in bunched sprint finishes.
Kooij has now equalled Edvald Boasson Hagen's record of four consecutive stage wins set by the Norwegian in 2009.
Casper van Uden was second in the English Midlands on Wednesday ahead of third-placed British rider Ethan Vernon.
Kooij leads the general classification ahead of Vernon and Germany's Max Kanter but there is no time gap between the top 56 riders.
Thursday's 192.4 kilometre course starts and finishes in the east coast town of Felixstowe.
