Paris Saint-Germain will travel to Le Havre in the opening game of the new French Ligue 1 season, the French football league (LFP) announced on Thursday.

PSG head to Normandy on Friday August 16 as they begin the defence of their record 12th Ligue 1 crown.

Promoted Saint-Etienne, 10-time winners, play their first top-flight game since May 2022 when they head to Monaco on Saturday August 17.

Brest, who will play in the Champions League for the first time in September, start their season by playing Marseille in Brittany earlier in the day.

Second-tier champions Auxerre host Nice and the third promoted side Angers welcome Lens the following day.
