Chiefs loan six Diski Challenge players
In a strategic move aimed at player development and team rejuvenation, Kaizer Chiefs coach Vela Khumalo has confirmed that six players from the Diski Challenge winning squad will be loaned to First Division clubs in the current January transfer window.
Khumalo emphasised that the objective of these loans is twofold, to grant the players invaluable match experience and to create opportunities for younger talents to ascend to the Diski Challenge (DDC) level.
"We are set to lose some key players who significantly contributed to our league victory last season," Khumalo remarked following the team's recent 2-0 triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns. Notably, striker Naledi Hlongwane and midfielder Thulani Mabaso transition to the first team on a permanent basis.

Midfielders Manqoba Ozoemena and Ofentse Kgosana have been loaned to Casric Stars, with additional departures including Nkosana Mbuthu and Bobo Sima, who will join Leicesterford City and Botswana's Mochudi Centre Chiefs, respectively.
Khumalo articulated the importance of this strategy, "This is a positive move for our development. These boys have already won the league; they need to be tested and gain vital playing time. Furthermore, it paves the way for younger players to step into the spotlight as we focus on our three-year development cycle with the 2008 birth year group."
In addition to the aforementioned players, defenders Siyabonga Gumede and Sfiso Timba will also be heading to the first division, joining Gomora United for the remainder of the season.
Khumalo remarked on the broader implications of these player movements, stating, "We are setting a precedent in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) with regard to our players gaining experience across different teams. This reflects positively on our development program, as many of our former players are making impactful contributions at various big clubs."
With an impressive five-match winning streak, Kaizer Chiefs are eager to carry their momentum into their upcoming fixture against Marumo Gallants at the DR Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein. Currently positioned fifth on the log, Chiefs are determined to defend their Diski Challenge title, though they find themselves trailing leaders Orlando Pirates by 11 points after 14 matches.
