SuperSport United have snapped up free agent Keegan Allen to add to their defensive stocks, the club has confirmed.
Allen recently left troubled Moroka Swallows, one of a number of players that were axed in the wake of the club’s failure to fulfil their two DStv Premiership fixtures against Mamelodi Sundowns and Lamontville Golden Arrows at the end of 2023.
But The Birds’ loss is SuperSport’s gain as they signed the 22-year-old, who made his professional debut for University of Pretoria in August 2021.
“SuperSport United FC is pleased to announce the signature of defender Keegan Allan on a free transfer from Moroka Swallows,” Matsatsantsa said in a statement. “Keegan is yet another product of the SuperSport United Soccer Schools where he developed his football before leaving to study and play football for Tuks.
“He then went onto join Moroka Swallows in the 2022/23 season, and during his one and a half-year stay at the club he quickly established himself as an ever present at the heart of their defence, playing over 30 games.
“The 22-year-old was called up to the Bafana Bafana squad for the COSAFA Cup tournament in 2023 and helped his side to lift the trophy, having played three matches under his belt and will look to add more caps during his stay at Matsatsantsa.”
Allen has made 57 appearances and scored six goals in his two-and-a-half seasons as a professional.
