Cross-discipline cycling phenomenon Mathieu van der Poel won a sixth cyclo-cross world championship title on Sunday to add to his road race world title from Glasgow last year.
The 29-year-old Dutch powerhouse also won two of road cycling's most revered races last season at the ultra-long 270km Milan-San Remo and on the cobbled mining roads of Paris-Roubaix.
The explosive Alpecin rider Van der Poel won the muddy Czech circuit by 37sec with neither 2022 champion Tom Pidcock nor Wout van Aert contesting.
Van der Poel was in the news for the wrong reasons in December when he spat at a group of heckling spectators
However, he won 12 races this cyclo-cross season only missing out at Benidorm where Wout Van Aert took victory despite losing his saddle.
