SuperSport United fought back until late in the game to earn a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
SuperSport United attacker Lebohang Maboe was already influencing the attack from the first whistle, and created a few set piece opportunities for the visitors to try getting ahead early.
Samir Nurkovic would also be dictating in the front for SSU as he provided a dangerous cross from the wing which Christian Saile got on the end of, but his header did not hit the target and went wide of the goal in the 10th minute.
As the game in Polokwane progressed, Sekhukhune got on the ball more and managed to create space for Sipho Mbule to take a shot on goal, however his effort did not yield much of a result as the hosts’ frustrations grew.

Maboe was once again at the forefront in the 20th minute as his strike forced a save from Badra Ali Sangare, who would later show that he was in top-form for this match.
The scoreline remained goalless until the halftime whistle, with both teams struggling to find the breakthrough early.
Sekhukhune opened the scoring through a set piece opportunity which saw Keletso Makgalwa deliver the ball into the box, Relebogile Mokhuoane got on the end of it as he netted his first goal of the season for Babina Noko.
Matsantsantsa would try once again to equalise matters with Maboe leading the charge, and his cross which hit the arm of Katlego Mohamme who was defending would give them a lifeline as the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty kick.
Gamphani Lungu took the spot kick but Sangare made the save in the 62nd minute, further adding to SuperSport’s frustrations in the afternoon.
Babina Noko continued to defend their lead well until the 90th minute before Samir Nurkovic’s acrobatic effort saw him score his first goal for SuperSport United, earning the team a point after a hard fought match.
