Green makes quick work of Dawson in UFC Fight Night
Bobby Green secured a big upset win when he knocked out Grant Dawson in the first round of their lightweight main event at a UFC Fight Night at the APEX Facility in Las Vegas, on the morning of Sunday 8 October.
Green, who moves to 31-14-1 (1 NC), needed just 33 seconds to secure a second straight win, dropping Dawson (who drops to 20-2-1) with a left hand before swarming his opponent with blows and forcing a stoppage from referee Keith Peterson.
The 37-year-old veteran Green did not take the chance to call out any particular opponent after this impressive win.

“I don’t call shots I just take whoever they put in front of me,” Green said in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. “I can call names all day. I don’t like to call shots. I want to call a date. I want to fight in December. I want to be the most active fighter this year. I have the most fights of 2023.”
The rest of the main card saw Joe Pyfer submit Abdul Razak Alhassan with a technical submission in the second round of their middleweight match; Joaquin Buckley comfortably out-pointed Alex Morono over three rounds of their welterweight clash; Drew Dober made quick work of Ricky Glen in the lightweight division; and the featherweight opener had Bill Algeo out-pointing Alex Hernandez.
The next UFC Fight Night is scheduled for Sunday 15 October at the APEX Facility and is headlined by a featherweight fight between Sodiq Yusuff and Edson Barboza.
