Naoya Inoue retains four belts

“Monster” Naoya Inoue (27-0; 24) retained the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF junior featherweight titles when he had to come back from a knockdown in the first round against “Pantera” Luis Nery (35-2; 27), to score knockdowns in rounds two and five, and in the sixth round he scored another knockdown before the referee stopped the fight at 1:22 into the round on Monday at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on Monday.

YOSHIKI TAKEI WINS WBA TITLE

On the same card Japan’s Yoshiki Takei (9-0; 8) won the WBA bantamweight belt when he beat Jason Moloney (27-3; 19) on a 12-round unanimous points decision with scores of 116-111 twice and 17-110. Moloney was too hesitant against the big punching Takei and in the end, it cost him the title.

TAKUMA INOUE COMES BACK FROM KNOCKDOWN

WBA bantamweight champion Takuma Inoue (20-1; 5) came back from a knockdown in the first round against The No 1 rated Sho Ishida (34-4; 17) to retain his title with scores of 118-109 and 116-111 twice. Inoue went down from a counter left hook but quickly recovered to win on a unanimous decision.

SEIGO YUN AKUI RETAINS WBA FLYWEIGHT TITLE

Seigo Yuri Akui (20-2-1; 11), who was making his first defence retained the WBA flyweight title against Taku Kuwahara (13-2; 8) on a unanimous 12-round points decision. The scores were 117-111 twice and 118-110.

FORMER IBF CHAMPION WINS IN FOUR ROUNDS

Former IBF junior feather champion TJ Doheny (26-4; 20) won on a fourth-round technical knockout against Filipino Bryl Bayogos (7-1-1; 2). The time was 2:51.
