As one of the most keenly anticipated events in Mixed Martial Arts this year, Natalia Silva and Wang Cong will battle it out for the UFC Women’s Flyweight belt at UFC332, when the two fighters shake hands in the Delta Centre on Sunday morning.
Main card set to commence at 02:00am (CAT, GMT+2).
While Valentina Shevchenko vacated her belt owing to injury, Silva (20-5-1) and Cong (10-1-0) were presented with an opportunity to become the face of the UFC’s 125-pound division this weekend.
As the more experienced fighter of the two, Silva comes into the event unbeaten in the UFC after winning her first eight fights in the promotion. Her latest win came at UFC324 in January, where she defeated the popular Rose Namajunas via unanimous decision across three rounds.
Apart from dispatching Namajunas, the 29-year-old saw off another UFC favourite in the form of Alexa Grasso at UFC315 in May 2025 as she put the Flyweight division on notice in Canada.
Cong, 34, is currently on a four-fight win streak after claiming a unanimous decision victory over top contender Tracy Cortez at UFC329 in July. Despite being deducted a point in round two for an illegal knee, the Chinese fighter did enough to win over the judges following their three-round bout.
While Cong enjoys an impressive run, she last tasted defeat in November 2024, when she fell following Gabriella Fernandes' rear-naked choke in round two at UFC Fight Night: Yan v Figueiredo.
Speaking ahead of the fight, Cong believes that she deserved a title shot after noting four consecutive wins and that she remains in top condition for the unknown.
“I’m not surprised,” Cong said.
“Because of how the rankings go, either has a fight booked or they just fought. I’m on a four [fight] win streak, and I think it’s my time.
“I’m always ready for a championship fight. I never take a long break after any of my fights. Even if I only had 17 days to prepare for this fight, my cardio is there.”
