Hluvuka High School, Ntshuxeko High School, Hoërskool Pietersburg, and Hoërskool Ben Vorster are the toast of the Limpopo province.

The four schools will represent the northernmost province at this year’s DSTV Schools Netball Challenge (DSNC) national finals.

Hoërskool Florida in Roodepoort will host the fourth annual competition which will see schools from around the country fight for the coveted title of the best netball team in the Under-19 division.

The DSNC is a partnership between Multichoice, South African Schools Netball, and the Department of Basic Education which offers a platform for players from all schools (urban and rural areas) to get to experience the sport on the same level.

The competition is divided into two streams, Botho and Ubuntu, which offer an equal opportunity for schools from both rural and urban areas to get to the top of the competition. Pietersburg and Ben Vorster will play in the Botho division while Hluvuka and Ntshuxeko will play in the Ubuntu division which was won by fellow Limpopo school, Hlabi Secondary School, who will miss this year’s competition.

Hlabi are the only school in the tournament to have won the competition more than once.

Limpopo Schools Netball coaching convener, Elmari Craig says the province is pleased with the teams that will be heading to Gauteng for the nationals.

“It was a great tournament, all our teams gave it everything. We had an action-packed programme; I think the best teams in all the sections came out tops. We believe that the two Botho and Ubuntu schools that will represent us at the nationals will make us proud. We hope that someone will bring a medal back to Limpopo,” says Craig.

Meanwhile, Potchefstroom Gimnasium and Hoërskool Rustenburg will return to the national finals to represent North West in the Botho division while Mamodibo Secondary School and Kgaphamadi Secondary School will play in the Ubuntu stream.
