Day 7 of the Telkom Netball League Power Week 1 delivered a compelling mix of dominant performances and crucial bounce-back victories, as teams continued to jostle for position heading into the final stretch.
MATCH OF THE DAY
In a crucial Division 2 encounter, the Diamonds showed resilience to secure a 48-44 victory over Sonoblomo in the standout match of the day.
Coming off a heavy defeat earlier in the day, the Diamonds needed a response — and they delivered in a tightly contested match that saw both teams exchange scoring runs throughout.
The Diamonds held a narrow 26-24 lead at halftime, with the contest remaining finely balanced at 37-36 heading into the final quarter.
A late push saw the Diamonds open up a four-point lead in the closing minutes. Despite a late opportunity for Sonoblomo following a handling error, the Diamonds’ defence stood firm to secure a vital win.
Botswana international Keletso Gontho (GD) was named Player of the Match for her crucial defensive performance.

CRINUMS DOUSE FLAMES
The Crinums continued their dominant run in Division 1, recording a convincing 60-38 win over the Flames.
With a suffocating defensive structure and rapid transition play, the Crinums took control early, leading 29–18 at halftime and extending their advantage to 43–27 after three quarters.
The result marks their fifth consecutive win, reinforcing their position as the team to beat.
The Crinums are currently at the summit of the Division 1 log.

MALAWAI U21 OVERPOWER DIAMONDS
Earlier in the day, the Malawi U21 side delivered one of the most dominant performances of the tournament, defeating the Diamonds 76-26.
A blistering start saw Malawi race to a 20-5 lead in the opening quarter, before extending their dominance to 40-13 at halftime.
Despite defensive adjustments from the Diamonds, Malawi maintained their intensity across all four quarters.

JAGUARS MAINTAIN MOMENTUM
The Jaguars continued their strong form with a 57-43 victory over the Kingdom Stars.
Leading 27-20 at halftime, the Jaguars increased their intensity in the third quarter, with their midcourt unit injecting pace and control to stretch the lead.
Despite the Stars’ aggressive defensive approach, the Jaguars’ efficiency in attack proved decisive.

WINS FOR TSHUKUDU, SUNBIRDS AND STINGS
In another match, the North West outfit Tshukudu delivered a convincing 53–37 win over the Lilies, capitalising on a strong second-half performance to pull away.
The win sees Tshukudu secure a top three spot on the log so early league.

Meanwhile, the Sunbirds edged the Comets 51-48 in a competitive encounter, with a composed finish proving the difference.

The last day of the day saw bottom placed Eastern Cape Aloes face off against Southern Stings.
The Aloes, who are still in search of their first win of the season, faced a very feisty Stings who are also aiming to end the first power week on a high.
The coastal teams went at each other; however, it was the Stings who dominated the match and won 54-43 at the end of the hour.
