By most accounts, the Cape Town leg of the World Series Sevens circuit is one of the most enjoyable for players and fans alike.

This may well explain “the jol is back” tagline that accompanies this year’s event, taking place in one of the most picturesque venues in the world, beginning Friday.

Best of all is that the Blitzboks are home favourites after their showing in Dubai last weekend, where they swept to a record 10th win.

But it won’t be easy. Sevens specialists Fiji are drawn in the same group, along with Canada and France.

If it’s the players who bring the high-octane action, it’s the fans who bring the vibe, blending their love of sport with a love of entertainment. Both will be on offer in Cape Town.

SuperSport’s broadcast will be no less enjoyable with around 30 hours of action on the schedule between Friday morning and Sunday evening.

Live broadcasts will begin at 11am on Friday and conclude with the final on Sunday evening.

New Zealand beat South Africa in the last final, held in Cape Town before the pandemic, and it has been a case of nearly there in recent years with the Blitzboks’ lone Cape Town Stadium success coming in the 2015/16 season.
