A new Olympic stadium to host the ceremonies and athletics at the 2032 Summer Games will be built in an inner city Brisbane park, Queensland State Premier David Crisafulli announced on Tuesday as he unveiled the third venue plan for the Games.

Crisafulli said a new 25 000-seat national aquatics centre would also be built in the same Victoria Park, another 20 000-seat stadium will be constructed at Brisbane Showgrounds, while other events have been moved to regional Queensland.

The issue of venues has been a matter of much political debate since the Games were awarded to Brisbane in 2021 and Crisafulli said he hoped organisers could now finally get started on constructing and refurbishing the various arenas.

"Finally, Queensland has a plan," Crisafulli said in Brisbane. "The time has come to just get on with it. We will."
