Kaizer Chiefs' winless streak in the Betway Premiership continued this week after recording a morale-deflating 2-1 defeat against Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

In what was an eventful encounter in Durban, a missed penalty by Chiefs saw Arrows capitalise by netting the winning goal of the match with 12 minutes left to play.

Amakhosi started the game on the front foot while Nkosingiphile Ngcobo produced the first attempt at goal in the fifth minute.

With Arrows forced to defend their quarters, Chiefs probed on the inside the opposition half.

The Soweto giants were awarded a penalty in the 10th minute of the match after Makabi Lilepo drew a foul inside the 18-yard-area.

Stepping up to the spot, Yusuf Maart’s effort struck the upright, which let Arrows off the hook.

Abafana Bes’thende began creating goal-scoring chances midway through the first 45, while Chiefs likewise looked to cause trouble at the other end of the pitch.

Nduduzo Sibiya gave Arrows the lead in the 25th minute mark after an incisive move toward the Chiefs penalty area.

With Knox Mutizwa creating play, the Arrows forward played Sibiya through on goal on the left side of the six-yard area and he subsequently scored from close range.

Not holding back, Chiefs equalised just four minutes later as Maart made up for his penalty miss with a right-footed effort from the middle of the goal.

Amakhosi continued to create chances en-route to the break, but were often let down at the final hurdle.

Arrows looked lively after the restart, as the likes of Angelo van Rooi and Ayabulela Maxwela took the game to the Chiefs backline.

As for the travelling side, the Glamour Boys battled to progress the ball up field as a result of Arrows’ immediate pressure.

Chiefs found a second wind moments before the 70th minute mark but often had their attacks broken down at the high end of the pitch.

Nevertheless, Arrows took the lead in the 78th minute through Mutizwa, who proved to be a difficult customer for Chiefs throughout the encounter.

After capping off a well-delivered cross by Siyanda Mthanti, Mutizwa made no mistake from close range.
