Bulls hero of the match: Wandisile Simelane

There was a time when Wandisile Simelane didn’t seem to find his feet since arriving at Loftus Versfeld. Playing in the unfamiliar position of fullback or wing, he was complying with his coach Jake White’s request to be more versatile in order to unlock more of a chance for higher honours and a possible Springbok place.

But you never really got the sense he was comfortable in the role, even though his performances were good, but not sensational.

Moving back to the 13 jersey, at a time when both Lionel Mapoe and Cornal Hendricks have struggled for a bit of form has been inspirational for Simelane, and on Saturday against the Chiefs it showed.

His ball prowess - he had a scholarship to Kaizer Chiefs as a youngster - was shown when he toed the ball for his first try on Saturday and added a second to complete an almost perfect performance.

Simelane has always seemed more natural in the 13 jersey and now that he is back there, it may be difficult to get him out of the starting line-up.
