The Toyota Cheetahs have overcome some administrative issues to choose close to their strongest team for their EPCR Challenge Cup match against Section Paloise (PAU) in Amsterdam on Sunday.

With three of their players having represented the Ospreys on loan earlier in the season there was some confusion if they could be selected for the game and earlier in the week the paperwork had not been finalised.

Rewan Kruger, Marnus van der Merwe and Daniel Kasende would only know shortly before the team announcement if they were allowed to play.

While no official explanation was given, Kruger has been named on the bench but the other two are absent from team selection this week.

After wins against Zebre and the Hollywoodbets Sharks in the competition thus far, the Cheetahs are looking forward to their new base in Amsterdam and hoping to create something special there.

“It will be a new start for us but I feel that we know what we want to do. We know how we want to play, and the team is well-prepared. We’ve come through a tough Currie Cup since then and I think the team works well together,” coach Hawies Fourie said.

“We don’t want to be complacent, so I’ve been tough on the team and players during sessions because if you get complacent then you are going into your comfort zone, and you end up losing games you should have won.”

The match kicks off at 3pm and is live on SuperSport.

Toyota Cheetahs: Tapiwa Mafura, Munier Hartzenberg, Evardi Boshoff, Reinhardt Fortuin, Cohen Jasper, George Lourens, Ruan Pienaar; Jeandre Rudolph, Friedle Olivier, Gideon van der Merwe, Victor Sekekete (captain), Rynier Bernardo, Aranos Coetzee, Louis van der Westhuizen, Schalk Ferreira.

Reserves: Marko Janse van Rensburg, Alulutho Tshakweni, Hencus van Wyk, Carl Wegner, Daniel Maartens, Sibabalo Qoma, Rewan Kruger, Ali Mgijima.
