Ugandan MMA athlete David Onama will chase a potentially career-defining performance when he faces Steve Garcia in the featherweight main event of a UFC Fight Night, set for the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on the morning of 2 November 2025.

Onama (14-2) will have his first main event fight after putting together a four-match winning streak, most recently defeating Giga Chikadze via unanimous decision in April.
The 31-year-old “Silent Assassin” has climbed to 13th in the featherweight rankings and feels ready to seize the moment: “I’m fighting who’s in front of me. I don’t care about the name or what he did. I just feel like it’s my time now.”
Garcia (18-5) is 12th in the rankings and has racked up six successive wins, most recently overcoming Calvin Kattar via unanimous decision in July.

The 33-year-old “Mean Machine” believes his recent run is more impressive than his opponent’s.
“If you look at my history and my streak that I've had, I've been able to finish people within the first two rounds," Garcia explained.
"It can be a little gritty, but for the most part, I've been kind of able to make it look a little bit cleaner.
“You look at Onama's win streak – I have more of a finish streak, he has more of a win streak. It only turned to a win streak because I didn't finish Kattar.
“If you compare the two, he's had a lot more grittier, harder fights when it comes to trying to get the win, where mine's kind of been more with ease, you can say.”
The rest of the main card features another African MMA star, Themba Gorimbo, taking on Jeremiah Wells in the welterweight division. The Zimbabwean is looking to bounce back from a submission loss to Vicente Luque at UFC 310 in December 2024.
