Luis Alberto Lopez from Mexico makes the second defence of his IBF featherweight title when he meets Joet Gonzalez at the American Bank Centre on Friday night.
The 30-year-old Lopez won the title on 12 October 2022 when he beat Josh Warrington (31-1-1) in Leeds, England in a closely-fought encounter with scores of 115-113 twice and 114-114.
In his first defence on 27 May this year he stopped the highly regarded Michael Conlan (18-1) in the fifth round in Belfast.
The 29-year-old Californian Gonzalez comes into the fight with a record of 26-3; 15, with rather in and out form in his last six fights having won three and lost three.
He has made two challenges for the WBO featherweight title and lost to Shakur Steveson in October 2019 and Emanuel Navarette in October 2021.
His third defeat came against Isaac Dogboe in July last year on a split decision over ten rounds and in his most recent fight he won on points over ten rounds against Enrique Vivas in April.
Lopez has a record of 28-2; 16 with the only losses on his record being against Abraham Montoya and Ruben Villa both on points.
Even though Lopez is the bigger puncher it is on the cards that that the fight will go to a decision.
