St George hurdle for Adama City, Hadiya Hossana target Hambericho Durame
St George host Adama City at their home ground in the BetKing Ethiopian Premier League on Friday, while Hadiya Hossana face Hambericho Duram.
In the first match of the day at the Adama Science and Technology University, Hambericho Durame and Hadiya Hosasna will be looking for their first wins of the season.
Both teams are yet to register a single win in their first three league matches and as such find themselves in perilous waters and marooned in the 14th and 15th spots on the table.
Hambericho Durame are playing in their first ever Premier League campaign.
They lost to Dire Dawa Kenema and St George by the same margins of 1-2 and drew 2-2 against Adama Kenema.
Hadiya Hossana, meanwhile, were expected to start the season on a good run as they had been in good form during the pre-season Addis Ababa City Cup.
However, their start to this season has been anything but inspiring with losses to Mekelakeya and Ethiopia Nigd Bank and a draw with fellow strugglers, Wolkite Kenema last week.
Hadiya have good players in each departmentm especially in the front line, but these players have not lived up to their billings or the expectations of their fans and coach Yohannes Sahile.
The second fixture of the day features defending champions St George up against Adama Kenema.
Zerihun Shengeta's team have gotten off to a flyer and are the only team with a hundred per cent winning record.
Abel Yalew's amazing strikes in those matches were crucial to the team's good start.
It will be recalled that when Ismail Ouro Agoro left the team at the end of last season, there was a lot of uncertainties on who the next goal machine for the team would be.
Abel Yalew has stepped up big time and is doing well covering the space. It may be his best season yet if he can continue in this vein of form.
Meanwhile, Yitagesu Endale's team Adama Kenema have drawn two of their fixtures but won their second-week match, beating Wolaitta Dicha 1-0.
Adama lost a few key players in the transfer window, but the results so far tells a different story.
The match is crucial for the team because beating the defending champions will be a huge boost for the squad.
