Luis Alberto “El Venado” Lopez retained his IBF featherweight title on a 12-round unanimous points decision against Joet Gonzalez on Friday night at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The scores were 118-110, 117-111, 116 -112. This was the third time that Joet Gonzalez challenged for a world title but, despite coming on strong in the later rounds, it was not enough in the eyes of the judges.
However, despite the scorecards of the judges, Lopez did not impress and it could only be described as a workman-like performance.
Lopez improved his record to 29-2; 14 and Gonzalez’s record dropped to 20-4; 15.
