Relebohile Mofokeng scored on his league debut on Saturday for Belgium’s Union Saint Gilloise as they got the new Belgian season off to a convincing start with a 5-1 win at Westerlo.

It was an impressive start for the Brussels-based club, who were runners-up in the league last season and beat champions Club Brugge in the Super Cup away last weekend with Mofokeng scoring the decisive kicking in the post-match shootout.
While the Bafana Bafana international, recently sold by champions Orlando Pirates, was an unused substitute in Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Bodo/Glimt of Norway, he was brought on after an hour on Saturday for Canadian striker Promise David and promptly delivered a goal.
It was a little dab pas that Mofokeng ran onto and steered home from close range using his pace to good effect
Westerlo had taken the lead but Union were level at the break and then 2-1 up before Mofokeng came on. They ran away with the result in the end.
The Belgian side now head to Norway on Wednesday for the second leg of their Champions League third preliminary round clash, safter the first leg ended 3-3.
The 21-year-old Mofokeng will be looking to get some game time and make his first appearance in European club competition.
