Low-key finish for SA Women
The Springbok Women’s team continued their struggle at the Rugby World Cup Sevens as they lost to China 21-19 in their final match to finish 14th out of 16 teams at the competition.
As with the men, the pressure got to the Women’s team as they struggled despite having a lot of chances with only Madagascar and Colombia finishing behind them in the tournament.
Eloise Webb, one of the stars of the team, said execution was the issue for the side as they faired a lot poorer than expected.
“Sometimes we lacked a bit with execution - I think that’s a big thing for our team, that we have to really work on. But we didn’t do too badly. Some times in the game, we really played our best and that’s all that matters," Webb said.
But she did enjoy playing in front of home fans.
"It was amazing - I don’t think we will ever be able to explain this experience. It’s just been amazing with our fans, our families. We played for them each and every game and for one another and that’s the most important thing."
