While Casric Stars and Midlands Wanderers hit the restart button in the Motsepe Foundation Championship earlier this week, the likes of Milford FC and Cape Town City will be under the spotlight in this weekend’s list of action in South Africa’s first division.
Prior to the lengthy international break, log leaders Milford suffered a 2-0 defeat against Midlands Wanderers on 6 December last year and will now take on the University of Pretoria at the Tuks Stadium on Saturday.
Second-placed Casric Stars, who jotted down a 0-0 draw with Midlands Wanderers this past Wednesday, thus missed the chance to topple Milford and remain one point behind the pace setters.
Elsewhere, Cape Town City will hope to pick up where they left off when they face Gomora United at the Dobsonville Stadium on Friday.
With promotion back to the Betway Premiership no doubt on their agenda, fourth-placed City are three points away from the Promotion playoff spot and last recorded three consecutive wins against Lerumo Lions, AmaTuks and Highbury respectively.
Elsewhere, Kruger United, who are in third position on 25 points, will target a winning start to the second-half of the campaign as they prepare to go toe-to-toe with Baroka at the Kanyamazane Stadium on Saturday.
Kruger suffered a 3-1 defeat against The Bees before the international break, a result that ended a five-match winning streak in the league.
