Argentina's veteran World Cup prop Francisco Gomez Kodela has joined Stade Francais for the remainder of the season, the French Top 14 side announced on Tuesday.

Gomez Kodela, 38, featured in all of the Pumas' seven matches at the World Cup, starting in the third-place play-off defeat against England.

"The club is delighted to announce the arrival of experienced tighthead prop Francisco Gomez Kodela from Lyon after a successful World Cup," said Stade Francais in a statement.

"Francisco is already here and has committed himself to us for the whole season."

The experienced prop, who made his international debut in 2008, arrives in the French capital to fill in for Georgian Giorgi Melikidze, sidelined with a neck injury.

Gomez Kodela came to France in 2011 when he joined Biarritz. He went on to play for Bordeaux-Begles and Lyon, making 14 appearances for them last season in all competitions.

Stade Francais are fourth in the Top 14 after four rounds and welcome second-placed Castres to the Stade Jean-Bouin in Paris on Saturday.
