FULL TIME, EDINBURGH 38-7 STORMERS. The whistle goes and the Stormers are put out of their misery. That was a very poor display from John Dobson's men. Far too many mistakes. For Edinburgh though, that was a great way to bounce back from last week's mauling at the hands of the Lions.
Thank you for joining us.
CONVERSION, EDINBURGH, THOMPSON. Edinburgh 38-7 Stormers. The additional points added from almost in front.
TRY, EDINBURGH, MUNCASTER. Edinburgh 36-7 Stormers. From the resulting lineout there are a series of drives at the line. Eventually the defence can no longer hold out and Muncaster goes over.
Another breakdown penalty given away. And as if they weren't sufficiently error strewn Schickerling tackles the sniping Vellacot early to give away another ten meters.
Big cheers from the home crowd as Ben Muncaster is named player of the match.
PENALTY, EDINBURGH, THOMPSON. Edinburgh 31-7 Stormers. Stormers concede another penalty at the breakdown. They have just dodged a bullet with the last penalty miss and they give another away in an almost identical position. They are riddles with mistakes. This time there is no mistake from Thompson.
Stormers take a quick lineout as they look to counter. But as they do there's a tackle and the man holds on to concede another penalty. Thompson steps up looking to nail another three points - but he misses.
A huge tackle from Ruhan Nel which almost breaks Thompson in half puts Edinburgh on the backfoot. But once again the Stormers manage to butcher the opportunity with poor handling.
The errors keep on coming. Substitute Sazi Sandi spills it forward in the tackle just as The Stormers appear to be building momentum.
CONVERSION, EDINBURGH, THOMPSON. Edinburgh 28-7 Stormers. the gap just gets wider as the Edinburgh 10 adds the extra two.
TRY, EDINBURGH, GILCHRIST. Edinburgh 26-7 Stormers. Too many errors from the Stormers who are falling apart here. Gilchrist picks and goes and he can't be stopped.
Stormers are guilty of too many errors. Willemse spills a kick and then John Dobson's men are penalized at the scrum.
CONVERSION, EDINBURGH, THOMPSON. Edinburgh 21-7 Stormers. It is a tough kick from the sideline but it is over.
TRY, EDINBURGH, GRAHAM. Edinburgh 19-7 Stormers. It is wave after wave of pick and drive from the home team before they finally spread it wide. Darcy Graham crashes over in the corner. It looks like he may have spilled the ball, but TMO can't see any separation. It is close but the try is given.
Moment s later Thompson nails a 50/22 of his own. Huge kick and Angelo Davids just can't quite keep it in. Attacking lineout for Edinburgh.
Willemse looks for the 50/22. He appears to have nailed it perfectly but the ball takes a wicked final bounce and it's an Edinburgh lineout instead.
Back to the scrappy fare that we had earlier in the first half. The Stormers steal an Edinburgh lineout but then spill it forward. It is a litany of errors. Eventually after another lineout steal the Stormers clear the ball from their half courtesy a raking kick from Willemse.
Great defence from the Stormers as they put in tackle after tackle. It is disciplined and it it is fierce and it ends with Darcy Graham gang tackled into touch.
It looks like Zas is in for a try, but TMO spots that the rip from Schickerling was done once the tackled players knee was on the ground. What was a Stormers try ends as a penalty for Edinburgh.
Neethling Fouche penalized for scrumming in Edinburgh set up a lineout.
Willemse gets the action underway for the second period.
HALF TIME, EDINBURGH 14-7 STORMERS. Ball kicked into touch after a scrum to bring an end to a gritty 40 minutes of rugby.
Magic from Gelant as he sells a series of dummies and then grubbers ahead for Angelo Davids. It just doesn't go to hand though and it's a drop out for Edinburgh.
Stormers playing on the edge. A fly-hack ahead is taken into touch by Van Der Merwe for an attacking lineout to the Stormers. They take it through the phases and it ends with JD Schickerling going over, but being held up.
CONVERSION, STORMERS, WILLEMSE. Edinburgh 14-7 Stormers. Easy conversion for Willemse.
TRY, STORMERS, NEL. At last the Stormers are over. It comes from the third consecutive 5m scrum and Ruhan Nel gets the ball at speed and he crashes over.
Warrick Gelant tries the grubber ahead and it is easily scooped up by the Edinburgh defence. A bad option. The home side try to run out of trouble though and they are tackled back over their line and it is another 5m scrum for the Stormers.
Just when it looks like the Stormers are over, the TMO says there was a knock from Morabe. But it's another penalty to the Stormers and once again they scrum - under the posts.
At last the Stormers have a chance to hold on to possession for a while. They try a tap penalty but can't find a way through. They win another penalty and they opt to scrum. Five meters out and under the poles.
CONVERSION, EDINBURGH, THOMPSON. Edinburgh 14-0 Stormers. Another two for the home side.
TRY, EDINBURGH, MUNCASTER. Edinburgh 12-0 Stormers. The Stormers are forcing the offloads and it is not going well in slippery conditions. The ball comes the way of Edinburgh and the get it to big Ben Muncaster who breaks a handful of tackles to go over under the poles.
CONVERSION, EDINBUGH, THOMPSON. Edinbugh 7-0 Stormers. Extras are added.
TRY, EDINBURGH, HARRISON. Edinburgh 5-0 Stormers. Finally all the bashing and crashing at the Stormers line pays dividends and the big hooker gets under his man to score.
With nothing seeming to work the home side opt for a tap penalty. Gilchrist eventually goes over and the try is awarded... until it is reviewed and it is shown that Brok Harris has dislodged the ball. No try. But an attacking scrum to Edinburgh.
It is not very compelling rugby from Edinbugh at the moment. They have a surfeit of possession but a shortage of imagination. Another attacking lineout is stopped and it ends with an attacking scrum...
Another penalty concede by the men from Cape Town and now it's a lineout inside the Stormers 22. They win the lineout but the maul is halted instantly. Still a scrum for Edinburgh.
A lovely touch-finder from Warrick Gelant who returns an Edinburgh kick with interest. But now it's the Stormers turn to concede a penalty as Edinbugh win their lineout under pressure.
Big scrum for the Stormers as they win a penalty. They finally move the ball out of their half and set up the lineout.
A few uncharacteristic errors from the Stormers, dropping high balls and fumbling simple balls. After a bit of back and forward they concede a scrum just inside their own half.
Stormers concede an unnecessary penalty as Willemse fumbles a high ball and Marabe picks it up from an offside position. Edinburgh opt for the lineout but the Stormers steal it away.
