The Bulls have done enough for the five points and they are now in a strong position in the URC. The Lions are in trouble and will struggle to reach the playoffs from here.
YELLOW CARD, BULLS, MOODIE:
Moodie produces a professional foul which will see him binned.
With a Bulls scrum going down and having to be reset, more time ticks away. The Bulls have an attacking possession and could throw something at the Lions from the setpiece here.
Goosen fails to convert but with time running out that should be it for the Bulls as they lead by 15.
TRY, BULLS, KRIEL, 10-25:
Kriel gets the bonus point score but the crowd are not happy with the call.
Kriel gets onto a kick and chase and the referee awards the try but they will go upstairs to have another look.
CONVERSION, LIONS, HENDRIKSE, 10-20:
Hendrikse goals his conversion.
TRY, LIONS, HORN, 8-20:
A bit of a lucky bounce plays into Horn's hands and he scores a try rto make this interesting.
The Bulls have knocked on in trying to get the ball and the Lions have the attacking scrum.
CONVERSION, BULLS, GOOSEN, 3-20:
Goosen adds the two and that might kill the game off.
TRY, BULLS, COETZEE, 3-18:
Coetzee picks and goes and powers over to score.
The Lions again spill the ball on attack at the crucial moment. They have made too many mistakes in this match already.
The Lions get a penalty that could switch the momentum now. They kick to touch and find it inside the Bulls half.
PENALTY, BULLS, GOOSEN, 3-13:
Goosen slots the kick.
The Bulls have a penalty and they will call for the tee this time with Goosen to line up a shot that would give the visitors a ten point lead.
The Bulls hold out in defence as a mistake from the Lions means they miss out on a great attacking platform. The Bulls now have a lineout 15 inside the Lions half.
While the Bulls get an easy exit thanks to a penalty they knock on as they threaten the Lions 22.
Goosen cannot convert with his first kick of the match but the Bulls have the upper hand now.
TRY, BULLS, VAN DER MERWE, 3-10:
The Bulls maul won't be stopped and Van der Merwe is over to score.
The Bulls reject another shot at goal and set up an attacking lineout after the Lions infringe in their own 22. The Bulls got onto the attack after a hoist was spilled by the Lions.
The powerful Bulls pack wins a penalty at scrum time and they try to launch a counter but cannot hold it and they come back for the kick.
The pass did go forward and the Bulls have a scrum feed inside their 22 and a letoff.
The TMO has to clear a final pass from Nohamba after Kriel goes in at the corner.
The Lions get the scrum free kick and they call for another scrum inside the Bulls 22. The referee isn't happy with either side and this is a gamble.
The kick hits the posts and bounces back in-field. The Lions get a scrum feed as the Bulls knock on. The Lions couldn't use an advantage.
Obstruction from the Bulls on halfway gives the Lions a chance to try and take the lead from the tee.
Van den Berg slams a huge banana kick into touch in the Bulls half after the visitors knock on in the Lions 22.
The match restarts and the Lions gather, they clear their lines but they have Venter down right now and the match is stopped.
HALF TIME: LIONS 3-5 BULLS
It has been a tightly contested derby with a lot of kicking. The Bulls have had the better of the attacking play but both sides have been sloppy. The second half will be intriguing with two points separating the sides at the break.
A high tackle gives the Bulls a penalty on halfway and van der Walt calls for the tee in what could be the last act of the half.
There is another scrum delay and the referee has a word with two of the props. The Lions eventually get the ball away and can play from inside their own half.
A Bulls maul rumbles forward but goes down and Papier spreads it but the Bulls knock on in attack and the Lions have a scrum feed.
The Bulls can attack despite a lineout feed that didn't look terribly straight. The Lions do win the ball back at the breakdown though and this time Nohamba finds a longer touch.
The Bulls turn down the shot at goal to setup an attacking lineout. The Lions snatch the ball on the deck though and Nohamba clears up to the 22.
Gans drills a grubber into touch deep in the Lions 22 and they now need to secure their ball from a defensive lineout to get out of the red zone.
The Lions are soft at the breakdown as they attack off the lineout and give up a penalty. Poor work from the Lions but the Bulls take play back into the Lions half.
The Lions get the relieving penalty at last after a period where the Bulls really had them on the back foot. They find a good touch inside the Bulls half.
The scrums are eating up the clock almost every time they are called and sucking the atmosphere out of Ellis Park.
Nohamba spills it in midfield as the Lions threaten the Bulls half. The Bulls have a scrum from which they can build an attack.
Louw knocks on in contact and the Bulls have another scrum which they could use to quickly switch play. The kick comes in but the Lions run it back. They are stopped short of halfway and the box kick comes out. The Lions are offside at the kick and van der Walt looks for the corner. He kicks dead though and the Lions get a scrum just inside their ten.
The Lions keep the heat on the Bulls off the restart and force a hurried kick that gifts them an attacking lineout just outside the Bulls 22.
Van der Walt cannot convert the try from out wide. The Bulls have the lead though.
TRY, BULLS, MOODIE, 3-5:
Moodie runs a killer support line and will sprint away, he is tap-tackled out wide but not held and dives over to score. Papier had made the initial break.
The scrum has to be reset after it pops up and the second scrum earns the Bulls advantage.
The Bulls have a scrum feed after Horn gets the hit on Williams. The Bulls scrum has been on top but the Lions are coming into their own.
The Bulls maul is stopped and Papier puts up the hoist but the Lions gather and Horn kicks long. Williams marks it and slows things down.
Van den Berg makes a crucial tackle to force a knock on as the Lions once again lose a ball at setpiece. They have the scrum but it takes some time to get it set and stable.
The Lions lose the ball thanks to a loose feed, but they redeem themselves at the breakdown and win a penalty that will allow them to relieve the pressure.
The Lions lose ground in attack due to a loose pass and lose the ball close to halfway after a poor kick. The Bulls test with a hoist and Louw pounces to win it back. Horn gets back to cover a kick but opts to let it roll out. The Lions have the lineout feed in their own 22.
The Bulls make a mess of getting the ball back after a chip ahead from Horn. Williams kicks long but too long as it happens and the Lions will have a scrum feed close to the Bulls 22.
The Bulls start going forward well after edging a kicking battle following a long dropout. They knock on before Hanekom piles into van der Merwe with a big tackle. The Lions will have the scrum feed but their winger will feel that hit.
Nohamba misses a relatively straightforward kick and that could prove costly in the long run.
Poor discipline from the Bulls at lineout time sees them cough up another kickable penalty.
Van den Berg kicks well after the Lions regather the restart and he takes play up towards halfway. The Bulls have the lineout feed about ten inside the Lions half. However the Bulls knock on from that lineout and the Lions have the scrum feed. Nohamba kicks from first phase but cannot get the 50/22 and the Bulls have a lineout feed just outside their own 22.
PENALTY, LIONS, NOHAMBA, 3-0:
Nohamba slots the kick to get the Lions on the board early.
KICK OFF: The Lions kick deep and the Bulls commit obstruction off the kick off and gift the hosts a penalty.
