England scrum-half Alex Mitchell will miss the last two matches of the Six Nations after suffering a hamstring injury.
Mitchell was forced off with the problem just 24 minutes into the 42-21 defeat against Ireland on Saturday.
He will be sidelined for England's matches against Italy on March 7 and France a week later.
Jack van Poortvliet, who replaced Mitchell against Ireland, is favourite to start at scrum-half in Rome.
Raffi Quirke has been called up to the squad as a replacement.
"Alex has been scanned and seen the relevant specialists," England head coach Steve Borthwick said.
"He'll be out for a number of weeks, unfortunately, so won't feature in the remainder of this championship."
